Gillott street Factory ?
replied on: 7/12/2008 1:42:20 PM Sammy Naylor lived in that neck of the woods. He had a lorry and sold hardware, paraffin, candles and the like from it. He must have had somewhere to store his lorry and stock. I remember him doing the rounds of Marlpool Farm estate a couple of times in the mid 50s. I think he did the outlying areas from Heanor towards Ilkeston. The the make of lorry I cannot recall but it was a flatbed of around 3 ton size. It had a box body to carry the stock and looked to be 30s/40s style. His son, known to us as Sammy Naylor but not in his earshot, was a teacher at Clara Mount Boys School. regards Phil0 |
