Heanor Secondary/Grammar School Teachers
replied on: 8/13/2008 12:03:21 PM

Heanor Secondary had pupils up to the age of 18 right from the earliest times, as they always had some go to university or study to become student teachers. That said, the vast majority left long before that age, and many at the earliest possible opportunity, though all were expected to stay till the age of 16.

School Leaving Age was:
10 - 1880
11 - 1893
12 - 1899
14 - 1918
15 - 1947
16 - 1972
