Still no news on a shoe-polish factory, but I know that in 1842 there was a factory owned by George Allen, of Fall House. Allen is described as a "lace net maker", so I assume that it was a lace factory.

I'm afraid I can't help you on this one, but if I come across any references to it I shall let you know.

Welcome to the site, and I hope you get a positive response.

I understand that there was a shoe polish factory somewhere near the top of Nelson Street, does anyone have information please?
