A Tale

As Ery,Kylee and myself prepare the food for the men, Kylee asks me when was the last time I could remember a Kassar FW submitted to a Outsider. I pause, as I add seasoning to the Bosk meat.
With a sigh and gentle smile on my lips, I tell her yes I remember when. Ery catching the tone of my voice...."says Auntie tell us about it" she is always eagar for another story.
Nodding to them, as we keep working over the fire, I start to tell them of a Love that was for keeps and worth giving up all....

She was the daughter of a Great Kassar Warrior, and wore her family's honour with her lovely head held high, proud yet not haughty. Her name was Jonli....she had a special spark in her,Jonli was always laughing and happy with life....beautiful like a tawny colored larl, a tall blonde woman with flashing Auqua eyes...
Her father and mother prized her greatly, for they had lost all their other children over the years, one would think she would be spoiled by such treatment, yet she was not. She had a kind word and helping hand for all,yet was never meek, I once saw her rush in front of Bosk and save a small child from the hoofs of the crazed Bosk, with never a second thought to her safety.
When I came to Kassar as Rune's FC, a long long time ago, alot of the other FW were cold towards me,for I was but a Rencer girl, til I proved my worth, not Jonli, she came to me as soon I was alone, Rune had many duties to tend to as he had been away for a while....this beautiful creature,Jonli, pitched in and right away started helping me clean the wagon and get settled in, her voice was like music, filling the air with light and peacefulness, she talked and talked making me feel as if I had known her for years.
We were best friends and over the years almost as sisters. Men in all 4 tribes asked her to FC, yet she turned them all away so sincere and sweet they left still happy and with a little hope that maybe she would change her mind. Her father did not seem to mind her turning away all the men, for I believe he hated the thought of losing his last child. So Jonli was loved by many and added so much to all she met. She seemed happy with her life but every once in a while I would see her gazing into the distance and acting as if she were waiting on something or someone.
Kylee asked me if I every questioned Jonli on what she was wanting in a Man? Laughing I told her that was asked by many....finshing up the food, I told the 2 FW I would continue with the tale after we tended to the Men of Kassar, we did not want a bunch of starving Barbarins on our hands.......still smiling to myself at the memories, I take Rune his food and drink...........

A few days later as we cleaned up after a meal, the men all relaxing and telling of their day, Ery asked me to finish the story of Jonli, going to our wagon I beckoned for Ery and Kylee to follow me. Lighting the lamps I handed each some mending and picked up my own, idle hands are best made use of....smiling to myself I returned to my memories, letting the thoughts of my first Kassar friend warm me. Glancing at Ery and Kylee I tell them they would have liked her, she had their warmth of spirit. Jonli moved thur kamp like a warm summer breeze, a Zephyr as Rune would say, she helped and made each person smile.
For such a happy person it always suprised me to sense her loneliness, was mostly in her eyes or a longing in her face when she saw two people in love. I ask Ery have you ever felt wonderful but you know somehow something is missing? That was how it was with Jonli......til the day a stranger came into our land. He had safe passage I later found out, by the fact he had saved a warrior of the Plains life years before...they had held dirt and grass, many of our warriors roamed, often earning their scars and having adventures. He came to the Kassar boldly, with just his friend's name. It was enough, the warrior was commander of a thousand, and Wagon People admire courage above all else. As the stranger and the warrior visited, all the FW and the slaves walked by to get a peek at the tall giant of a man, he had a hard looking face, sable hair and the greenest eyes I had ever seen. Jonli stopped dead in her tracks when she saw him, it took me a moment to see she looking at him with need. I had never seen her like that before. When he saw her staring at him, he stopped speaking, simply returning her gaze. The warrior looked at his friend and then at Jonli, him and I both not knowing what to say or do, was that open. Sparks or lust was flying in the air between them. Finally I tugged Jonli's hand and took her to Rune and I's wagon, she was like in a trance. Slapping her face lightly I asked her if she knew him? She replied softly, only in her dreams. I was afraid then and told her to stay right there, I would fetch her mother....running as fast as I could I went to find Jonli's mother. Sighs, was not fast enough. Before we could return we heard loud voices, they were coming from where we had left the stranger and the warrior. I later found out that the stranger was of the red caste, though I doubt it would have made a difference. How Jonli knew their codes I have never learned. We came upon the stranger placing a simply collar around Jonli's neck, her mother turned and raced to find her FC. Seeing Rune I ran to him to ask what had happened, why was my best friend in a collar, how could they let this happen. ~laughing~ Rune looked at me and said if you would be quiet woman I would tell you, lord that made me mad but I shut my mouth fast, you know how he is....he smirked at me and said jonli had submitted, had begged the stranger's collar in front of all, then he grabbed me as I started crying and told me to look at her face, how happy she looked, glancing over I saw what he meant, she glowed. Crying on Rune's chest, all I could think of was my friend was lost to me, forever. Rune finally took me to our wagon and made me lay down, one would think my sobs were embarrassing him, smiles. The worst part Ery and Kylee, was when I awakened the next morning, the stranger and his new slave had gone. I never got to say goodbye or wish her well or thank her for all she had done for me, I hope she knew. The one think I know though,is by the look on her face, she was finally complete......
