This appears nonsensical, and maybe it is, maybe i'm looking too deeply into it. BUT Consider working in the base of that notorious number, 13. what wuld happen, if you multiplied seven by nine in thirteen? in base ten, we get 54. If you know your bases, you can ascertain by the fact that (14 x 13) + 2 = 54. Thus 6 by 9 in base 13 is 42. Coincidence? What do you think? |

replied on: 1/20/2006 12:38:41 AM Perhaps you've missed something. What Arthur pulled out of the scrabble bag wasn't the question. He was decended from the golgafrinchams and therefore not part of the computer matrix. Also, in Life, the Universe and Everything, the point was made that if anybody new both the ultimate answer and the ultimate question at the same time, the entire universe would disappear and be replaced by something even more mindboggling. They also made the point that this had already happened. So it can't be the question. what you have is a coincidence. Possibly an unavoidable one. |
