What is the ´del´ of the Delta function. For example Delta(R-ri(t)). I dont know how to do this? 2. I often see the ´del' operator with a number of superscripts and subscripts. I dont understand what these mean.'I.e. for the part that I am trying to follow the work by Schofield and Henderson on the microscopic stress tensor expression (2.3). [P schofield and JR Henderson] Proceedings of the Royal society of London. Series A. Vol 379 No 1776. For example Can someone explain which is going on there. I will send you the PDF if you send me your email address. 3. Are the any tutorials or recommended reading to help me with Tensors. I found them counter intuitive despite some reading. Thanks |

Vector calculus problems with tensors
replied on: 11/25/2006 2:18:25 PM usually one has to know something about the subject involved when reading papers from the RS might I remind you that any academic paper has to offer someting above the average and your paper does not differ very much from this aspect I read through the paper but I don´t think that someone could manage to translate it into something easily readable for you without putting a lot of time into that project especially when there is a certain lacking of the basics involved |

Vector calculus problems with tensors
replied on: 11/26/2006 2:57:22 AM Get a book on differential geometry or general relativity. They will explain the basics of tensors. |
