I am a literary type, almost phobic about mathematics. I am not fond of having any deficit, and would like to remedy my inability to speak math fairly fluently. Does anyone here have an ideaof a website that can hold my hand and stroll me into the world of absolute logic? |

replied on: 12/12/2006 8:25:38 PM You looking for the basic symbols? Or more in-depth predicate logic etc.? If I assume it's the previous, go to some really good library (i.e., some university library) and search for a introductory book on proofs. Otherwise, if you're looking for the meaning of all those crazy symbols, find the best linear algebra book you can find, usually they simply have a short page-like dictionary for what they mean in an appendix or the front page. |

replied on: 12/19/2006 10:26:33 PM Get the CRC Press Encyclopedia of Mathematics for all the symbols you could ever need, as for logic- your best bet would be to get a book on introductory discrete mathematics, or naive set theory (as formal set theory is vastly more abstract). |
