Hey Gary
I've read the first three books,The Twins was a good introdution to your world, although of the three Awakening was my favourite. Each book introduced us to a host of new characters and the plot is coming along nicely.I would like more on the relationship between The Lala's and the choosen. The sisters of Parth look to be intresting.More background on Colton would be nice.I see you mention somewhere else that the next two maybe released next year, please could you keep me updated,I have a gut feeling on what's going to happen to my favourite character.

I'm kind of fond of him as well. When I began the books, Cairn was actually my favorite. I've grown very close to quite a few of them by now.

As far as some of your other quesitons go, the relationships between the Chosen and the Lalas become a very important part of the next two books, as well as the relationships among the various Chosen themselves. Colton's true motivations do become clearer as time passes, but he is a character who is not easily understood or pigeonholed, though it may seem that way at first. He is so profoundly troubled, beyond hope, yet he does retain a modicum of humanity. That fact only serves to torment him more.

Colton is very complex, the more I read the less I understand him.At first I just thought he was the ultimate evil, but the more I read I realised that he is a man in torment,he has done things he regrets, the only way for him to find peace is to destroy everything.Woops hope I haven't gven away too much

No. I don't think so. Actually, I'm glad you saw that. He is complex, for me as well, and although it might seem initially that this is a story of good versus evil, pure and simple, it's much more complicated than that.

When you first start reading it seems very staightforward, good v evil, but as you read more you know there's more to it than meets the eye.The Lalas seem to have their own agenda, they semed to have betrayed people and then there was certain characters you Introduced in Shards.
Sorry I'm trying to be vague as I'm not sure if any one else here has read them yet

It gets more complicated as time passes, trust me. In fact, right at this moment I am in the middle of chapter 29 in Book V and the world feels like it's coming apart at the seams. Colton doesn't need to do anything at all. A second 'enemy' has slowly and steadily entered the battle, about which no one knows anything substantial yet, aside from the terrible effects of any interaction with it.

Gary, any one ever told you, you've got an evil streak? bad enough that I'm speculating about iv,I'm now speculating about book v.
I think I read book iv will be called Revenge of the Elves? What gave you the idea of the Lala's and the choosen? if you don't mind me asking?

Actually, I always felt that trees were incredibly noble things. I'm not certain why, but they endure so much and they bend just enough in the strongest of winds to maintain themselves. I respect them.

We all have our particular alliances with the world around us. We need them. I admire people who are comfortable with the world around them, who don't seem at odds with nature. The Chosen exemplify my own sense of that perfect blend - a thinking person who uses both reason and the unconscious to find his way in this world.

The fourth book is titled The Revenge of the Elves, but the title is somewhat deceptive. More than that, I cannot say.

Hi Gary!

You may remeber me, here's a big clue look at my call sign/name and add two letters to the end of it. Also just think of our recent correpsondence over at another forum Rune is a major member of coupled with the names R Scott Bakker, Paul Kearney and Steven Eriskon. Starting to rign bells yet?? HE HE..

OK I'm just in the process of getting hold of your first book Gary so I'll post something once that's done. Here's to complex plots and characters....

Glad to see you here. Do you identify with that character for some odd reason? (LOL)

Just remember that it takes time for plots to germinate before they blossom. I am not a writer who likes to bash readers over the head. My approach is a bit more subtle.

Keep me posted on your progress when you do start reading.

That's Ok Gary, subtle can be just if not more effective than full frontal ala Mr Erikson.

Will post when able to...

PS Good luck and have fun at the Worldcon convention.

Subtle is a great word. It has wonderful connotations like the words poignant, portentious, ominous and foreboding. I hope that some of the subtleties are not too sublte though, and that most people relate to the quieter style of my books. They are not 'in your face'. I am not overly violent and I rarely curse, so neither do my characters. It doesn't come naturally to me. If you are looking for graphic sex, I am not your author. My characters are passionate but not overtly sexual.

Subtle.
