replied on: 8/22/2005 2:32:26 PM It's frustrating trying to montior all of this stuff all the time. You would think that the publishers would have some kind of program to check on their author's books, but they don't. Or at least mine doesn't, so I find out that a books listed wrong or showing unavailable by hearing it from people who went to buy it! That's a bit too late, don't you think? An author has to be a policeman, an editor, an advertising exec and a marketing person these days as well as write the books. As it turns out, today barnesandnoble.com is showing all three of the books as available and shipping in 24 hours. |

replied on: 8/22/2005 5:54:01 PM Well I've had a message saying your books should be coming out to me later this week Looks like too that The Twins is going to be next months book discussion. I'll probably set that thread up in your forum and all discussions about your works are in one place. Another reason I want to get The Twins so that I can participate in the discussion |

replied on: 8/22/2005 7:15:21 PM I hope you get it soon. My publisher just told me that I should direct people to them and they can ship the books faster and cheaper. There's no middleman that way. http://www.windstormcreative.com |

replied on: 8/23/2005 12:19:32 PM Sorry. Nothing firm yet. But it's done so it's not a matter of having to write it still. i am going to be working with a new editor for this book, so it will be at least a year I suspect. Remember, I released the first three books at the same time rather than staggering them over a few years as most authors and publishers do. |

replied on: 9/10/2005 8:58:12 PM Hey Gary, thanks for the link. You do agree that one of your great passions is fantasy itself, but one of the other things I've noticed is your love of nature and that comes across clearly in your books.Hope this comes across right,I've also picked up from your posts here and other forums, that you really care about people not just friends and family but strangers as well, which as well as making you a great writer it also makes you a wonderful person. |

replied on: 9/11/2005 12:38:44 PM That's very kind of you to say. I feel as passionate about people I don't know as about people I do, which is why my family always is kidding me. I have this habit of taking in strangers into our home and treating them as family. So many of my kids friends have lived with us over the years, either because they were from out of town or they had trying family circumstances etc. I have a strong sense of community and I believe in all of the small acts of kindness. My relationship with my environment is a very personal one. It's hard to explain. I don't feel as detached from the living things around me as consciousness makes us all believe. |

replied on: 9/12/2005 2:47:43 PM Well, I am really frustrated. I read today in Publisher's Weekly that Christopher Paolini's new book Eldest has 1.8 million copies already in print. I know I write better than he does. I know my books are more intelligent and more interesting. So what gives? How can I get people to go out and buy more of my books? This is the place to talk about GemQuest, right? Well, I need you to talk about GemQuest too on the other boards as well. It can't be that we only read what the bookstores and big publishers push us to read. Not any longer! |

replied on: 9/12/2005 5:00:22 PM quote: I do mention your series on other sites I use and even mentioned it on a forum for the Open University I can understand why you're so cross about Christopher Paolini's works getting pushed so much, especially as I've not heard good reviews about his works. I did read the first one and his immaturity did show. My buying your book saga continues. I've cancelled my order with that us company, they couldnt get your books for several weeks. So now I need to find another source Help me out here Gary! |

replied on: 9/12/2005 5:22:09 PM I appreciate everything you do. I can't tell you enough. From my heart. You never told me where you are located. UK? The best way for people to order if outside the US is to simply email Zach at Orders@windstormcreative.com . He will handle everything -- including making sure you get a 20% discount and the best deal on shipping (like the flat rate $9.00/$12.00 box). However, international buyers often follow the link at Windstorm's webcenter and follow those guidelines instead. http://www.windstormcreative.com/global/customers.htm They simply place their order, pay the US shipping amount, and get billed for the difference the same day. |
