My favorites so far include, Beauty, The Visitor and A Plague of Angels (very like the visitor). I'm not so keen on Grass or the Gate to womens country. Grass being a bit odd, and Gate just a bit to adamant. There are a few more, which i have to wait for my library to catch up on. I do have some trouble with categorising her, her work does seem fantasy, and yet, much of it is post apocaliptic, espeically Visitor and Angels. Any one else like her? Read any of the other books? |

Yep, Rune, checking them out first is always a good idea, even with authors that one loves (not mentioning eddings and that ghastly althulus debacle) But as I say, it's difficult to really class her as sci-fi. She brings in a lot of mythology, even fairy tales (see beauty), with of course the exception of grass (of the ones i've read that is) which is quite sci-fi, although the setting is more fantasy. But its not the genre that i find so interesting, its the concepts that she deals with. Egology, womens rights and even modern religion are some of the recuring themes of her works. |
