Just picked up Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman. Everyone seems to like this trilogy, so it should be good.

Went to the City today, Sunday and one of the local stores was having a sale: 40% discount off all books (incl. New Releases).

So, I happily picked up:

System Of The World - Neal Stephenson (book 3 of the Baroque cycle).
The Dante Club - Matthew Pearl (author of the intriguing Poe Shadow)
Throne Of Jade - Naomi Novak (book 2 in the Temeraire series)

A pretty good triumvirate at almost half the RRP I think.

Hope to have Blood Knight - Greg Keyes by next week.

Not fantasy, but I recently ordered The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella.

I also had to order a new copy of Cirque du Freak #1 since I spilled coffee all over it. *sigh*

Went into the City today, glorious 20 degrees, blue skies!

Naturally I stopped off in the specialist SFF shop and collected:

Something Wicked This Way Comes - Ray Bradbury. An acknowledged classic of the Genre I'm yet to read or so long ago I forget Shock Horror!... A Fantasy Masterwork edition.

Things That Never Happen - M. John Harrison. 24 Short stories exploring various themes from one of the modern masters.

City Of Saints and Madmen - Jeff Vandermeer. - Tor 2005 edition - All of the Ambergis novellas and stories.

Daughter Of Regals and Othe Stories - Stephen Donaldson. 8 collected short stories from the spring & summer of 1977 + summer and fall of 1982. Incl. the Illearth War outtake - Gilden Fire.

Time Ships - Stephen Baxter. The "authorized" sequel to HG Wells Time Machine. Winner of the 1996 Philip K. Dick and World Fantasy Award.

The Dragon Waiting - John M. Ford - Fantasy Masterwork series. 1984 World Fantasy Award.

Not a bad set of six.....

Not read Donaldson, thought you had?

I will post some reviews on these books because I don't think they're as widely known as others here.

Well the buying spree continues.

Today happened to swing by the local bookshop near to work and bought:

Torments Of The Traitor (Vol 1 Song Of The Tears) - Ian Irvine. Latest in this long running page-turner albeit not overly prose laden EPIC series.

The Blade Itself - Joe Abercrombie. Book 1 of a new EPIC fantasy series. Read some reasonably good reviews across various boards on this one so thought I'd give it a go.

Darker Than You Think - Jack Williamson. Part of the VG Fantasy Masterwork series. Argued to be the best known American novel on Lycanthropy (human transformation into a Wolf or Wolverine-like creature).

Some interesting reading lies ahead...
