Well, we can't very well talk sci-fi without thinking of this master of the genre, with a light and humourus touch, he managed to capture the ills and stupidities of modern life and civilisation, and turn it on its head.
he may be gone, but his work will never be forgotten.

I love The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I read a couple from that series. They're great. The movie was ok, it was kind of fun.

Yeah, I enjoyed the Dirk Gently-holistic detective agency book and am going to read Histhikers guide to the galaxy.

(by the way, the release date for Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy DVD/video is 5th September 2005)

Did you know that Douglas Adams was one of the first people to buy an apple mac, and that in fact, he bought quite a few of them, storing something like one story on each apple mac. strange, eh?

I love Dirk Gently, I think they are much better than the Hitchhiker series, although I love them too.

he has, he has also re-written quite a few of his works for alternative mediums. the hitchhikers guide started off as a radio program, then progressed to print (where it became perfect imho) it then moved to television and now, the latest incarnation of the film.

I was very disapointed in the film. Many of the subtleties and several of the oddities were missing. Zaphod's second head made only a brief appearance (obviously for special effects cost). With today's CGI that could have been done effectively.
