The Pillars of the World - Anne Bishop
posted on: 8/19/2005 6:44:20 AM

This is the 1st book in the Tir Alainn series.

This book started off very well. It had a dark beginning which found a Witch Hunter torturing a witch, in a dramatic scene. The storyline then moves into the Fae world and the two main characters Dianna and Lucian are introduced. They are well written and interesting characters, though I did feel Lucian was very similair to Daemon in the Jewel Series.
The story was misleading at first, giving the impression of an evil that as time progressed didn’t really exist. Once the story focused on Ari, I felt it did start to faulter. The pace slowed down too much, though the relationship between Lucian and Ari I felt was interesting and had more scope than what the author decided to lead it. Also the Witch Hunter character wasn't developed enough and I found his brief appearance added little to the story. Not as good as the Jewel Series books, but worth continuing onto the next.
