I tried reading one of this author books - King's Dragon. I couldnt get into at all, found it too detailed and slow for me

She's one of my keeper authors. I have all of the Crown of Stars books in hard cover and can't wait to get the newest one, In the Ruins. I really like the detailed bits, but I have to agree that sometimes she does go overboard. I really like her Novels of Jaran series too.

Well as you probably already know she's another one of my fav authors although I agree that at times COS drags on a little more than is necessary.

I got up to book 3 in the crown of stars trilogy a while ago but couldn't see the "light at the end of tunnel" so just gave up.

It does improve I found, especially books 5 and 6 and now with Book 7 due early next year things are coming to a close.

Halfway through the third book...still enjoying them but at that the moment it's seem's to have run out of steam...Alain's marriage is driving me crazy..I might be sent to hell for this but I wish some one would slap Tallia she is one of the most irrating characters I've ever come a cross

A universal observation I'd say, so hang in there it's worth it!!!

Book 4 heavily features Alain which should make you happier...

Over all I'm enjoying this series. The first two books got me hooked although I struggled with the third and just sort of drifted along with the fourth till near the end.The fifth has so far more than made of this and I'm finding it very difficult to put down. She does go into a lot of detail and the relgious bits can be a bit much at time but overall its well above average.

Now that is good news. Luckily we have a shop in Melbourne which stocks quite a few of the books, so no doubt Cal should be excited....

The only thing is there's 44 titles in the Fantasy Masterwork series and it's scary but I've read about 3/4 of them.....

There must be some shop in the UK or London that specialises in SF and Fantasy that would stock these...
