Yep, Women of the Underworld is a good series

I also like the Anita Blake series and Merry Gentry series which are both dark fantasy themes

Adding BloodStone by Nate Kenyon to this list, a very good dark plot, and well written

Im not quite sure if this fits this category but "A Great and Terrible Beauty" was exceellent. Its was a dark story....and it had fantasy elements in it, hence the reason i am posting it here..... it was an excellent story. There is a sequel , Rebel Angels, but i havent gotten it yet so i can not post anything on that one....

Well I recently won a copy of George RR Martin's 1974 Masterwork Fevre Dream about a Vampire on the Mississipi river circa 1875. It's described by Roger Zelazny (author of the wonderful classic Chronicles Of Amber) as Stephen Knig meets Mark Twain.

I've not started the book yet (beyond reading the first few pages) but it looks like a beauty....

Have you tried Nancy A. Collins? I've read the first three books of her Sonja Blue series. I thought they were very good vampire/supernatural books.

Ive not tried her books, will have to look them up Im a little reluctant to try another vampire series, been lucky as Anita Blake is interesting enough and Rachel Morgan series is good too. But some of the vampire stuff looks tacky.
