Some of her stories are too violent and perverse for my taste, but she writes so beautifully that I'm willing to go into darker places with her than I am with practically anyone else, and her books that are what you might call Shadowy rather than Dark are the ones that I love. "Heart Beast" and "Lycanthia" are two of her unusual treatments of werewolves. "Sabella" is a science-fictional vampire story. "Dark Castle, White Horse" is two short novels in one volume, and the first one "The Castle of Dark" is one of my favorites. Also her rather sinister retellings of familiar fairy tales in "Red as Blood." She also writes excellent short stories: very moody and evocative. Strangely enough, when she's not writing this sort of thing for adults she writes much lighter stories for YA readers. Is anyone else here a fan of Tanith Lee? |

replied on: 10/10/2005 4:59:56 PM Now that surprises me, because she's an English author and many of her books are published in the UK and not in the US. (Which I don't quite understand either.) In fact, I've bought several of her books from AmazonUK, once I realized there *were* books that I couldn't get over here. But if you mean used and affordable, I don't remember if any of the UK books I sent for fell into that category. I've picked up some of her older OP books used for a couple of dollars, but that may have been from our Amazon here. And some of her books seem to be limited editions and those are very pricey indeed. |

replied on: 10/11/2005 9:09:43 AM I've also noticed some of her stuff is pricey compared to other authors books. And because Ive not tried her stuff before I dont want to spend a lot of money on one book. I'll keep trying through my library, eventaully they may come up with something. |
