I tend to find it either in dreams or pictures at deviantart or both, 'cause the dream pushes everything into motion but the pictures help with specific ideas. Like before waking up this morning, EXACTLY before waking up more precisely ![]() |

replied on: 12/16/2005 7:57:22 PM another inspirational episode happened today on a trolley-bus - i was standing(the bus was a bit stacked) and I casually started thinking, what if the exposed hair on my arm started changing colour and rippling in the air? And BOOM

replied on: 3/1/2006 2:29:44 PM I find the best way of getting inspiration is going to the woods or somewhere surrounded by nature and that is quite. Take a pad and pencil with you and draw/write anything that comes into your mind. I find this is the best way to cure my writers block, I think its something to do with the lack of distractions and calmness. |

replied on: 4/19/2006 2:22:21 AM Mine also often comes from dreams. It also often comes from me hearing a true story in school or on the news that has an odd ending or one that leaves things unanswered. That usualy jogs my mind a bit |

replied on: 6/25/2006 8:44:02 AM i finally solved my quandary this morning (thank you David Brin). The first story that came to me in a dream was science fiction, but my heart really does belong to epic+dark fantasy. I was thinking that by first writing my science fiction story i'd acquire some well-needed experience to write my fantasy novel. Everything seemed good and logical with this approach, but there was still somethng very important missing- inspiration. I just couldn't stop thinking about my fantasy world. Now i have finally, with the help of Brin's The River of Time, stumbled upon an answer that would please both sides of arguement - i'll write short novellas concerning my science fiction dreams and develop my writing skills at the same time, after which i'll start writing fantasy. |
