Regal is trying to usurp the throne from his father the King and his brother, the King-in-Waiting. To do this he forsakes the Coastal dutchies and seeks allies with the Inland ones. With the added pressure of forged Ones mysteriously converging on Buckkeep and the ever more frequent raides by the Outislanders, Fitz is having a hard time dealing with both his duties to his King and to his beloved Molly. Royal Assassin, for me atleast, added a lot more tension than Assassin's Apprentice. Fitz is facing a tough choice - his loved one or his King? To ease his suffering there is Nighteyes, the loyal wolf-companion and pack-member, but in the end, when he is forsakened by Molly, even he is not enough and he seems to be left to the same fate as Burrich, though he had brought it upon himself. Marvelous writing, good vocabulary and style(by my standards |
