Straken - Terry Brooks

Penderrin Ohmsford has finally found the tanequil and through a monumental exchange acquired that which he has been in search for - the mystical darkwand. Now it is his assignment, with the aid of them inscribed wand, to get to the Forbidding, where his aunt, the Ard Rhys of the Druid order had been banished by Shadea a'Ru. At the same time the free-born forces have stopped fleeing and are forming a new offense, hoping desperately that the new Federation weapon will stay incapacitated long enough for them to have a fighting chance.
But there is another pupetteer behind this evil plot that only a few are aware of, an ignorance that can prove to be fatal for the whole world.

Finally i've decided what about Brooks' works doesn't really appeal to me - his lack of depth for the characters. Each protagonist in my opinion has a rudimentary and shallow background and persona, that just doens't let you get the feeling that they could be real people, not just make-believe. Dialogue is as banal as ever, barring some one or two good lines. More to the end, i started to get the feeling that Brooks had run out of good ideas on where to go, since there wasn't anything interesting or worthwile of noting.
All in all, i expected much much more from the final book of the trilogy, and i truly hope that Brooks will leave the Shannara world at be until he has some very good ideas on where to go from here.
