| Rune* Quote | Reply | | Diplomacy of wolves by Holly Lisle posted on: 5/28/2006 7:59:49 AM Book 1 in The Secret Tests series A story of house Sabir and Galweigh battle control of Calimekka. Kait is a member of the Galweigh family, and suffers from the curse of wolf. If discovered her people will kill her, but she needs her curse to escape the Sabir family when they attack her own. The focuses on three main characters. Kait who is on the run from the Sabir family, and in search of a Mirror that may return her dead family to life. Hasmal, who practices magic, a forbidden tallent that could bring his doom. In his bid to avoid Kait's attention, he gets dragged into her war. And Ry, a member of the Sibir and another cursed as wolf. Wants Kait for his mate and has abandoned his duties to lead the wolves of Sabir in his desire for her. There are a few other side characters, who's various storylines seem to clutter the overall plot. So at times it's difficult to follow the main story. I found these main characters the most interesting and their storyline's the most engaging. Some good gritty scenes, I especially liked the use of magic, and the wolves. But the gods who intervene to restore their power are a bit confusing and those elements are a bit slow. |
