I'm a writer and currently working for a new multi-media company. The owner has ties to the music world and several investors. I'm working on two projects and it's going good. I'm new to this site and wanted to post a script sample. ONE SAINT DOWN Issue Number One. PAGE ONE: (SPLASH PAGE/TITLE AND CREDITS) Panel 1. A view of the magnificent fantasy city of Solace. Tall buildings riddle the sky and statues fill the architecture of the buildings. Dark Statues that looks mystical and alive. The buildings themselves are wide and flat roofed. The roads are cobbled. 1. CAP: THE UNIFIED IMPERIUM. 2. CAP: THE CITY OF SOLACE. 3. CAP: HOPE HAS BEEN EXILED FROM THE LAND. 4. CAP: THE WORLD WEPT AND KNEW NO JUSTICE. 5. CAP: THE SAINTS BLED IN BATTLES OF POWER. 6. CAP: THE PEOPLE WERE PURIFIED WITH FIRE. PAGE TWO: (Four Panels.) Panel 1. Outside the Tower of the Cabal, on a thirty-five foot balcony, Pax Omarus Mierto is addressing the gathered citizens of Solace. The balcony is adorned with cherubs and a stylized fresco representing the Cabal of the Ten Saints. The people stare in fear and dull amusement. 1. CAP: THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GATHERED FOR THEIR LEADER’S GRAND ANNOUNCMENT. 2. CAP: A LEADER WHO NEITHER DESERVES TITLE NOR LOYALTY. A PUPPET WHO IS SELF-SERVING. PAX OMARUS MIERTO. 3. MIERTO: GREETINGS MY LOYAL CITIZENS AND WORSHIPERS OF THE TEN SAINTS. Panel 2. The crowd staring like zombies at their leader, they are gathered together shoulder-length apart. Mierto’s shadow falls over the crowd. Mierto is above the crowd and off-panel. 1. MIERTO (OP): TODAY IS A DAY OF CELEBRATION! THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIFICATION OF THE IMPERIUM AND THE FALL OF ALL HERETICS! 2. CAP: HE SPREADS HIS LIES AND HIS FILTH. 3. MIERTO (OP): THE TEN SAINTS ARE WATCHING! WE WILL HANG A HERETIC THIS DAY TO CELEBRATE OUR GOOD FORTUNE. 4. CAP: THE CROWD MURMURS THEIR DISCONTENT, BUT DON’T DARE REBEL. Panel 3. A close-up of the self-righteous Governor and his actual loathing of the citizens is apparent. 1. CAP: THE MAN KNOWS NO SHAME AND JUSTICE BURNS WHILE IN WAITING. 2. MIERTO: I WILL CHOOSE THE PRISONER WHO WILL BE JUDGED BY THE TEN SAINTS. 3. CAP: THE PEOPLE YEARN FOR JUSTICE. Panel 4. A close-up of some the citizen faces, they are bewildered and their eyes are full of tears. 1. CAP: THE PEOPLE HATE THESE CELEBRATIONS. IT MEANS ONE OF THEIR OWN WILL DAY BEFORE SUNSET. 2. CAP: HOPE’S STEPSISTER, TORMENT, HAS RAN AMOK. 3. CAP: THE CROWD WONDERS WHO WILL BE SACRIFICED THIS DARK HOUR. PAGE THREE: (Three panels.) Panel 1. The outside view of the Tower of the Cabal. The tower is made of white and gray and black stones. The mortar is a deep red. The tower rises up into the sky and at the top you can see the balcony. 1. CAP: THE SANCTUM OF THE CABAL. 2. CAP: MANY CITIZENS HAVE FILLED THE DUNGEONS. 3. CAP: MANY HAVE DIED HERE AS POLITICAL PRISONERS. Panel 2. Inside a dungeon cell is Selena Fortune and Norman Fontenot. They are both sitting on their heels and leaning against the cell wall. Both have been beaten and look tired. They are both chained to the wall by arms and ankles. The cell is dank and you can see the shadow of the window’s bars trailing down over them. Selena looks lost in thought and Norman is beseeching her. 1. CAP: A THIEF AND A HERETICAL MONK AWAIT THEIR FATE. NEITHER REALIZES THAT DEATH LINGERS NEAR. 2. FONENOT: SELENA PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, PRAY THE TONGUE OF THE TRUE FAITH WITH ME. I FEAR FOR YOU. 3. SELENA: FATHER OUR STRENGTH HAS FAILED US. I FEAR I DO NOT REMEMBER THE WORDS. Panel 3. A close up of Selena’s face bowed in shame. 1. FONTENOT (OP): YOU HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN THE WORDS, MY CHILD; YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN THE STRENGTH TO SAY THEM. 2. SELENA: FORGIVE ME FATHER, I HAVE LITTLE STRENGTH AND I AM A THIEF. ONE WHO HAS BEEN BETRAYED AND UNDONE. 3. SELENA: I FEAR THAT MY INIQUITY HAS LEFT ME POWERLESS. PAGE FOUR: (Four Panels.) Panel 1. Fontenot is holding Selena’s hand and looking deep into her eyes. Selena is only shying away from his gaze. 1. FONTENOT: THE ONLY INIQUITY IS THIS TOWER AND WHAT IT REPRESENTS. YOUR CRIMES ARE FORGIVEN MY CHILD. 2. SELENA: YOU ARE SURE FATHER? 3. FONTENOT: YES I AM. Panel 2. A close-up of the cell door opening and a guard walking in with Pax Omarus Mierto. The guard is carrying a laser stun-rod which is glowing purple. 1. CAP: LIKE LUKEWARM DEATH THE GOVERNOR WALKS IN, ENDING ALL CONVERSATION. Panel 3. Side-shot of Mierto leaning and looking down at the two prisoners. The guard stands in silence in the background. 1. MIERTO: NORMAN FONTENOT, HERETIC. I HAVE WAITED A VERY LONG TIME TO SEE YOU HERE. 2. MIERTO: I’M CHOOSING A PRISONER TO EXECUTE TODAY AND I THINK YOU’LL DO NICELY. Panel 4. Extreme close-up of Selena’s eyes. A sudden fury has taken hold of her. 1. CAP: JUSTICE IS AT HAND. THE CRIMSON SAINT RAGES IN THE GIRL’S EYES. Anyway, thanks for reading, I hope this isnt too long!

jimiredrocket Quote \| Reply \|	Here's a bit of my work. replied on: 1/4/2006 7:35:53 PM I haven't been published but I'm working with a new company that is lining up investors to publish some graphic novels. I am writing for them and will get some pay on the back end and a writing credit. I haven't had much luck getting artists to collaborate with so far. Most artists are too busy to collaborate with me. (I understand their stance, as they are looking for paying gigs.) I am sending two scripts to Argh! studios for consideration. I have an agent that believes in my work and she's trying to query different companies. But for now I'm hoping that 2006 will be the year that I break through and get something published. I'm optimistic and realistic at the same time. The script sample I posted was a project an artist asked me to create and write for her...then she flaked and never emailed me back...live and learn right? I have another gritty, mystical mob script that I've written called "The Dirge" and I hope to get it going this year. Thanks for the nice comment though! I see by your responses that you respond well to your fans and admirers and I dont see that often! Thanks Jim

I didn't post it with any expectations, and most pro artists are usually very busy. I'll make my way hopefully in 06! I wish that some of the other writers would have read it and gave me some feedback that's cool. jim
