replied on: 11/26/2007 8:30:43 PM Yeah man I got a free preview at my local comic shop which confirmed its release date. And from what ive heard theyre making it a point to ship out the comics on time unlike the prior Ultimates and the only reason we had to wait till December is so Mad can stockpile issues so the book comes out monthly and on time. Im so happy that its almost here Ive been waiting like 2 years for this!

replied on: 11/26/2007 9:00:52 PM it really makes my day bro the thing about Joe mad is that he has a reputation for not finishing what he starts because of what he did in battle chasers but back in the day when he did Xmen and Dead Pool he was pretty good about deadlines, hopefully its the same for ultimates the art looks insanely sick  monthly huh? very cool |

replied on: 12/5/2007 7:40:36 PM OK here is my review of the first issue... First to get this out of the way. The art is breathtaking some of the most beautiful comic work Ive ever seen.The art alone is worth picking up the book. Lives up to Hitchs prior run which is hard to believe. Unfortunately, the story falls flat and that really bums me to say and the dialogue is kinda lame. Its not the greatest read ever but at least your eyes will be too blinded by the prettiness of the art work to get to mad at the actual story. I still feel that the writer can still salvage the story but right now its kinda bumming me out. Not to say the story isnt a total flop because there are some stuff I liked about it. I dont want to spoil any specifics until more people read it though. Art though STUNNING  Mad does not disappoint unfortunately Loeb does but Im reserving judgement for now because hes got big shoes to fill from what Millar did with the Ultimates and its only his first issue. Hopefully he finds his voice soon. |

Cant wait to get em in the mail! The work looks phenomenal. Its been a long time since I purchased comics. Im glad to get into it again...so far.

I thought about getting both myself butseeing as I was getting other comics this week i just went with one cover (the oh so sweet villains one with one badass venom on it) Youll love the art every page I could see being a poster or something, but storywise youll be disappointed although I can and hope to see it improve. Its worth the buy but the poor dialogue and the stripped down characterizations hold the book back from being as great as the hitch/millar run. |
