replied on: 1/24/2008 4:59:29 PM Yeah they really improved by changing the muddy color palette that they used in the first issue. I agree that its still a kinda kidesy read but it was fun and the art was amazing. I wish the story made sense but what ever. Its an improvement over the first (thank god) and the art was damn good. Hey Phantro did you read Hulk #1? I thought that was really good and Im a huge fan of Mcguinness (he was born to draw hulk Im pretty sure hes got gamma irradiated blood) The only thing I didnt like was there was a mindless random super hero fight and doc samson threw the first punch (hes a psychologist for cryin out loud he supposed to be the most level headed guy on the team.) But it was a kickass issue if you liked world war hulk you would more than likely love this. |

replied on: 1/25/2008 8:42:53 PM i bought it but have not read hulk yet hahaha im reading a paperback called the nightmarist by duncan rouleau, i love his art man, his writing is a little complex and a bit disturbing at times but ive always been a fan of his cartoony style. Ultimates 3 part 2 was interesting man, spiderman, magneto, the brotherhood were in it so it had good action. lets see what happens next im starting to dislike Loeb's Writing how can you go from Batman Hush to this i dont know , its good, just not up par to standards

replied on: 1/26/2008 8:27:30 PM Im starting to dislike Loebs writing myself although I love Mad's art and the 2cnd issue is an improvement I think they are destroying the Ultimates and making it the Avengers on meth. I miss the high concepts and the unique character designs (particularly Iron man's he looks exactly like regular iron man now and ultimate iron man is my favorite armor yet.) |

replied on: 2/24/2008 5:32:01 AM ok just read issue 3 some things were ok, some things i just thought were horrid, and some things i felt were predictable... im sorry to say, as much as i was into the ultimates, i just dont dig the title any more, i will still buy it because of MAD's art but seriously, this is quite disappointing, somehow i just fear this book is no longer redeemable, it has been 3 issues and so far i am not too impressed with this story and sort of wished they left it at ultimates 2 on the plus side i picked up Ultimate Human both one and 2 and that one really promises, already in issue 2 we had lots of action and a well written plot so far. I picked up Ultimate Apocalypse and i am not sure what to say other than i miss Salvador Larroca's previous art, his new stuff looks good, but he is drawing like everyone else out there is. The story seems good too so far, i mean lots of action, crazy fights, and unstoppable villains, all works well Perhaps it is not a bad idea to look at what comic creators are doing overseas, I just read a paperback Graphic novel called Ramayan 3392 AD, have to say it was amazing and epic. aw well i am going off tangents thats what i get for being an insomniac hahahah |

replied on: 2/24/2008 8:16:45 AM Ultimate Human is very good. In fact I highly recommend it. The art is beautiful and the story is very good. Its more than just a slug fest between the hulk and iron man there is some great characterization and what appears to be a larger story arc at play. Everything you said about Ultimates is on point dude. i absolutely cant stand the story anymore its horrid this issue is further proof that the ultimates have become retarded versions of the avengers (i.e. the only difference between ultimate scarlet witch and regular is ultimate scarlet dresses more slutty and it looks like shes gooing to start a house of m type event with her reality altering powers) The Ultimate universe is supposed to be original not rip off recent events of the regular one. Im just buying for Mad's art the one plus of this issue is the art. I never saw cooler pics of dinosaurs and his wolverine is badass as hell. |

replied on: 2/24/2008 1:49:44 PM dude the ideas in ultimate human show some pretty good research on the writer's part, he actually did his homework and seems to be knowledgeable about stuff like nano technology and things like that, also the explanation of the hulks biology was really cool, details like that make a book worth reading and a story that much more entertaining. Ultimates 3 Scarlet witch does look like a sluttier version of her regular marvel counterpart, and i agree with you, this looks like a House of M even happening again and it is retarded, we all know the panther is Tony Stark, or Cap, but i am thinking it is Tony Stark because wolverine told him not to get in the way (which tells me he is human without any powers and would be dead weight without the armor) Ultron has done that before in regular marvel (taken over an Iron Man suit) and this whole Wolverine might being Magda's Father, Magneto not remembering, then that little quarrel between hawkeye and Wolverine... all just horrible storytelling and even worse writing. Mad did carry this book, from images of dinosaurs to some cool pics of them talking, i think he does a good job of making them look cool even if they are not fighting. stuff i would like to learn by looking at his art ya know, so its not all bad. Could it Be Ultimate Power is the last cool Ultimates Story...? that one rocked still like looking at the art of that and i find myself reading it again |

replied on: 2/24/2008 5:42:06 PM I dont know Ultimate Human shows me that there is hope in the Ultimate universe. I loved the explanation of the hulks biology and the nano tech. The writer, Warren Ellis knows a lot on the subject and any story involving technology he is the man for. I still read Ultimate Spiderman I find that book to be very good as well. The new artist kicks a lot of ass. I also loved the old one and the writing has always been good (although it was in a slump a while back but has been kicked into high gear recently.) So I think there is still hope people often think its the concept that is getting tired but I dont think writers always realize the Ultimate universe's potential because (especially in the current arc of Ultimates) it seems that they are just ultimatizing (not a real word but you get what I mean) characters and stories when the ultimate universe should be a playground for writers to make new concepts and be free to do new things you couldnt do in the regular marvel universe because of 60+ years of continuity. I think the Millar/Hitch team on the Ultimates are the only team to fully accomplish this. |

replied on: 2/24/2008 6:35:55 PM yeah man i agree when i said ultimates title i was referring to THE ULTIMATES the team, (ya know stories like ultimate galactus, ultimate war, Ultimate power, etc), i agree that Ultimate human and Ultimate Xmen still are cool and perhaps Ultimate spiderman as wel even though i do not follow that title often, the death of a goblin story arc was pretty damn good though Millar and Hitch are on Fantastic 4 now i cant wait to see what they are going to do with it already issue one blew me away and there was no fighting |

replied on: 7/1/2008 9:52:38 PM Ultimates 3 Issue 4 i have to say i loved the art the story definitely is not what i hoped for it is really bland, predictable and well, sort of not deserving a Ultimates Title to it yet again i still bought it because i love the art wow one more issue to go and honestly this has been a disappointment at least the storytelling oh well no biggie there but i just wonder if ultimatum will be as bad of a story as well |
