| Surfingentity Ahhh! Gojira!! ![]() Quote | Reply | | My Santa! (Step by Step) posted on: 12/29/2007 11:11:57 AM Here are the steps I went through to create my evil Santa! Step 1: ![]() Here I started out in gray at a low opacity slowly building up the tones then I slowly started to add color. I made sure that I added a fair amount of pink and red to the face because Santa is supposed to have rosey cheeks blood thirsty or not! Step 2: ![]() I went in and added the hat all the while refining the face and texturing the beard. I also created a brush that had a bunch of scatter to create a texture for the hat using reds and blues (blue for shadows on the hat) Switching between normal, multiply (darkens the value), and screen (lightens/softens the value) for brush settings. Step 3: First thing if yo look in the corner youll notice an antler shape because originally I intended to do a bad ass version of rudolph with an eye patch and cigar but he came out awful so I erased it. I then began to sketch in the body using the same technique as the hat. Step 4 Billion: ![]() I added in a background (a christmasy green color) but in order to make it random I used the brush I used to create the hat and altered it painting it in a small area then used the clone stamp and created random patterns to fill in the background. I also used color balance to balance out the values and make the colors feel like they were all part of the same space. I consider myself to be a novice when it comes to this digital painting stuff, but I hope this helps you guys. I know seeing the step by steps for other peoples work helps me and they are cool to look at. Any C&C would be greatly appreciated. |
