SPOILERS!!! W-A-R-N-I-N-G Ok so its time to make a deal with the devil, Mephisto and it’s the marriage of Pete and MJ he wishes to end or in fact to have it never happen. A stitch in time and they would have never married , a marriage deemed to be a rarest unconditional love made holy in the eyes of he I hate most .... to deny him is a victory like none other imaginable, Mephisto tells them. And with that agreement to end there marriage to stop it from ever taking place the life of May Parker would be spared , but in a last minute thought MJ demands that Peter have a chance at happiness and then for a payment she whispers something to Mephisto , What did she offer? Who knows? Curious..... It is then that Mephisto shows them the future they would have had. A daughter that will no longer exist because of their decision and when the clock strikes 12 for the last time the deal is sealed, with a kiss between them, a marriage ends with “Face it Tiger you just hit the Jackpot” and all fades to black, and a new chapter in the Amazing Spider-Man has began. Peter awakes unaware of anything that has happened , because of Mephisto's interference it never did, he greets his beloved Aunt May and heads out to Flash Thompson's apartment to welcome back an old friend , Harry Osborne. MJ is seen and Flash remarks that things are still frosty between the two of them and Peter says “I guess you can sat that,,I don’t know if shell ever forgive me for—“....... And he is interrupted before we can find out what he did to piss her off. So four issues later and a storyline that brought me back to my favorite comic as a child, I look forward to this “brand new day” |

Spider Man, one more day,
replied on: 1/6/2008 5:34:19 PM I just read the final issue I hated it (note I am still looking forward to Brand New Day) I just hate the fact spiderman made a deal with the marvel universe equivalent of the devil. I may have got over it if it didn't erase other things I loved besides the marriage for instance Spideys identity is secret again (I was actually shocked when he revealed it in civil war and now that its a secret again I think it diminishes a bit of the importance of civil war.) And how is Harry just back all thats supposed to be different is the marriage didnt happen the fact that hes still alive confuses me. Im interested to see what MJ offered Mephisto and Im glad Marvel is still using this classic Silver Surfer villain in their stories but I dont like that Peter would actually make a deal with him. Im still really looking forward to Brand New Day regardless of how much I hated the story leading up to it. I think Spidey needs the huge supporting cast again and they got some really good creative teams on the project. Also the fact that it ships three times a month now is something truly unique in this world where comics are usually late. |

Spider Man, one more day,
replied on: 1/23/2008 7:18:32 PM I will say this Brand New Day is actually good. They got some top name talent and are telling exciting new stories. However I absolutely hate the way they got there. I hate that the identity is secret again when he revealed it i thought it was one of the most shocking/exciting spiderman events of recent years. And even worse no one knows his identity anymore. NO ONE. Not daredevil (who is supposed to be one of peters closest friends) not aunt may (which was an amazing story when she found out.) Its truly a secret which to me makes no sense because how would you explain the scarlet spiders from the book The Initiative? If peter never unmasked then why would stark even build it as a gift for peter if he never had any clue who he was?!?!?! I also dont see how the marriage gets in the way of these great new spidey stories these stories could be told just as well without retconning 20+ years of continuity. The new stories so far have been pretty great though I love Dan Slot's writing and steve Mcnivens pencils are breathtaking I think he draws the perfect spiderman. However its kinda tough to fully enjoy brand new day if you hated one more day I love JMS run on amazing and it seems like everything that happened during it never happened which is a shame because he did some groundbreaking stuff. I also cant wait for when Chris Bachalo joins the book (in the past I wasnt a huge fan of his I liked some of his work but some of it is too cluttered) but the preview pages for his upcoming arc are jaw droppingly good. |

replied on: 1/25/2008 8:46:46 PM hahah yeah i like Bacchalo's work he was clutterted back in the day when he did Steam Punk, but when he did Xmen Ultimate War it was bad ass, and his current run with X-books and messiah Complex really make him a favorite of mine as far as spiderman, i just dont pick up the title anymore too much confusion in general i like the character but now that he has all the spotlight i just stick to my favorite characters the Xmen lets see what happens |
