Its fun to play around with and earn all the unlockables, but if you are looking for a super smash fast paced game to play with super good veterans, stick with Melee. Brawl is amaing, dont get me wrong, but it just doesnt have the speed and brutality that was in melee. It is made for everyone to pick up and be able to be good at it and it shows during gameplay. Anyone can pick this up, be brand new to the series and beat the crap out of the best veterans with he way this game was built. Tho, as far as a game goes, i would say that i love it. Not for a Smash Bros game, but for a game in general i would give it a 9.0/10. as far as a SSB game goes.....id say.....a 7/10 |

replied on: 3/10/2008 8:54:15 AM i would agree with that review, the first thing that stuck me was how slow everyone seemed(and that they cut the range on my favorite character Marth but just enough to make me suffer T_T),its good though just maybe not as good as the last one(maybe i just need to get use to it more). does anyone know if you can still wavedash and stuff in this one, those cheap moves are part of what made melee so good. |

They took it out (so says the review at ign.com) but im not quite sure what the defenition for wavedashing is. what is wavedashing....what do you think it is? i dont have a clue really...i am knowledgeless when it comes to game terms like this wavedashing/snaking/skating and what not |

replied on: 3/10/2008 3:11:37 PM ok, i just looked it up...i didnt know that it had a name....i just did it naturally as a trick you learn from playing. I dont like to use it in melee much tho. I think that a better player can learn real moves/combos/tricks without manipulating the glitches and beat the living crap outa those who use the glitches to advantages. Wavedashing is super fun with marth cuz he is so fast...but still rather play with skill and not glitching....im glad they took it outa brawl. The physics for brawl are sorta bothering me tho.....but i guess it takes getting use to it. I remember playin 64 smash bros and then Meelee came out and switching to melee was awkward for a while. When i get my lan connection going, ill post my "friend code".....i dont have a good wireless connection so it lags majorly plus i still dont have my own room so i have nowhere to set stuff up at. Thats why you guys havnt seen me around for a couple of weeks (not to mention missing the battle i started) is because im building a room attached to the back pathway of my house. |

I think you guys may be a bit harsh this game has a considerable amount of extra content and there are new game mechanics that make up for some of the changes in melee such as the final smashes which are all incredible (EXCEPT FOR DONKEY KONGS RRRRRHHHGGG, sry dk is one of my favorites) Im having a ton of fun with this new iteration of smash. The new characters and stages are incredible the graphics are pretty. And theres just a ton to do. I kind of like that the controls are a bit more accessible because this is a game to play with friends and not all of my friends are good at the game (at least compared to me and a few of my pals) the final smashes and other new additions give them more of a chance if you got skill your still going to own but now theres new things to learn instead of the same old. Learning to avoid each characters unique final smashes alone is very difficult (particularly sonic who if your a hardcore speed freak youll fall in love with and ness/lucas almost impossible to avoid.) My only complaints. And these are very annoying, what the hell happened to the home-run bat the home run hit is slow as hell now it can only work on really bad people and low level computer players. I was the homerun king in melee! The internet connection is screwy I havent been able to play a single round because the wii connect kept logging me out and was unable to find players (ill post up my wii number as well in the near future.) And what the frig happened to the awards you get at the end of the mash with the point values like smash king...5000pts or combo king...1200 pts something like that. They had some amusing titles and i miss them. Overall, incredible game. |

replied on: 3/11/2008 10:05:14 AM not harsh on it at all. Absolutely love the game 9/10 for me. I was just saying that if im gonna have a 4man battle against some good ol veterans, id rather play melee(for now) but i do like Brawl. I finisshed getting all the stages and characters yesterday and now i got to work on getting the throphies,songs and stickers. Im having a blast with it. Im especially greatful that they did make it easier for newcomers because now my wife loves to play and before she didnt.....melee was to awkward for her to get into. Sooooo Brawl has its ups and downs same as melee did. Servers are not the cause of my lag....i logged on yesterday at close range to the router and it played perfectl smooth. when i move away....my connection is at like 25% at most and causes it to like crazy. |

replied on: 3/11/2008 3:56:48 PM I think once they iron out the kinks for the online mode (so that I can finally get on it) this game will be even better to play.I have most of the characters I havent been able to play the game as much as I wanted but I should probably having them all by friday or sooner. |

replied on: 3/11/2008 4:28:47 PM yah...the facxt that you have to beat Sub Space Emissary b4 you can get Wolf, Toon Link, and Jigglypuff is crazy cuz its sooper long. Toon Link is worth the wait tho, hes awsome. Is your main from the other smash bros still your maine? here is mane N64 SBB: Fox, Captain Falcon, Mario Melee: MARTH!!!!, Fox, Mario, Young Link Brawl: Marth!!!!, Ike, Toon Link, Sonic and.... replied on: 3/11/2008 5:11:51 PM Lets see my main is Original- I dont really have mains for that I was too young to care I just liked it cause it had cool characters lol. I was always a big fan of kirby tho. Melee- Yoshi Donkey Kong Ganondorf Jiggly Puff Ice Climbers (thats right! Im pretty good with characters most people consider useless) Brawl- Still experimenting with it/dont have all of the characters yet Meta Knight is badass Snakes got some serious potential Bowser has drastically improved and giga bowser is incredible. I love king dedede but I havent figured out to use him effectively yet hes quite slow. I think Ikes got some potential. Really looking forward to toon link! I still rock with Yoshi (im pretty damn quick with him and hes got some power) and donkey kong is still awesome (but they changed it so that now hes a lot slower in melee he wasnt a speed character by any means but he was quick.) I also enjoy ROB who is surprisngly decent I dont see him becoming a fave but the way he moves around is pretty amusing.  As for the story mode its far too long and repetitive I do like the boss battles but the load screens destroy any momentum you had. The cut scenes are beautiful though I wish the story mode was just you watching those as a movie. |
