replied on: 3/13/2008 3:04:19 PM AAAARRGH!! F*CK, IT STILL LOOKS CGI CARTOONY!!! Aww forget it. I'm not bothering with this anymore. In my opinion, it missed its mark visually.. AGAIN. BUT...Yes. I agree. It does looks MUCH better than the last green joke. And I like these actors much better as well. However.. the monsters including Hulk, look too fake still. They need to stop using 100% CGI and damn it all to hell, they have to mix it with live models like in Jurrasic Park. Hulk's movements here looks too rubbery. Not real enough. Not convincing enough. And if I'm not convinced, what's the point of me bothering with it? My apologies. I don't mean to sound all negative about it. It just doesn't stand up to my visual needs. I want to take Hulk seriously. Like a scary type realistic thriller. Meh well. Hopefully everyone else will like it. Looks exciting, aside from the factors above. |

replied on: 3/13/2008 4:39:33 PM Thats my problem with it the action looks epic as hell but neither monster looks believable and very cartoony. The cgi is lackluster especially when compared to the stunning looking iron man trailers. |

replied on: 3/13/2008 6:09:31 PM honestly all cgi looks fake to me im oldschool, i like suits, like the ones used in ALiens, those things looked scary same thing for AVP and AVP Requiem there is a realism to a guy in a costume CGI allows movement and to make things more cinematic and thats good but yes you need to mix both tools the actors here look like they can carry the movie despite the poor CG personally man if it were me directing the movie i would put Lou Ferrigno (or someone similar) on it and invest a few million dollars in any available movie trick CG or conventional to make him look huge for the movie. |

replied on: 3/14/2008 1:00:56 AM I thought the first one was really good, and highly underrated. Hulk is first and foremost, a psychological drama (ala "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"), and I think Ang Lee touched upon those aspects nicely. Although I did think his dad as the Absorbing Man was a bit much (I walked out of the theatre and said, "that's the last thing we need; a super powered Nick Nolte.") This one looks pretty good too, but thing is, I'm not that big a fan of Norton, and thought Bana was perfect for the part. I also didn't mind Hulk's look, because there tend to be two schools of thought on Hulk's appearance: one is the 'muscle mass matches the power', which it seems this second movie has taken more to (the actual detail in the musculature) and the other tends to fit more in with the "Worlds Strongest Man" competitions seen on ESPN. There's strength muscle, which isn't overly defined, and can even look merely "lumpy", then there's lean muscle, which is what you usually see when someone is "cut" or "ripped", as it sticks tighter to the skin so striation can be seen clearer. The first movie went with the "mass" the second with the "definition". Both are fine, IMO. People did think he was a little too green in the first movie, but that's more of an 'homage to the comic' thing (since the brighter colors printed better. In fact, hulk was changed from gray to green because the gray oftentimes didn't even come out in printing, so he needed to stand out more). Unfortunately, it seems like a repeat of the first movie, in that the only real battle we'll get to see is the climactic battle at the end of the movie. Granted, it should still be cool, and probably will be a lot longer, but most of the 'action' still seems to be Banner on the lam. That being what it is, I'll still go see it (hulk is my favorite comic character, hands down), but I'll reserve judgment on it's pacing until I see it. |

replied on: 3/14/2008 2:10:57 AM Well, I can't even watch the first one. The biggest thing that turned me off from the first film, was Ang's decision to turn the serious tone flick into a complete joke disaster with all those flying and confusing panels with the memorable and hilarious panel shot of that one guy flying towards the screen. My friends agreed that it got stupid from there on. Like Ang Lee said "meh f-ck it...im tired of this sh-t. Lets just wrap it up already." And delighted us with the most BORING Nick Nolte ending ever... And he's supposed to be the Absorbing man?? Then who is this character here? --> ![]() Anywho, I'm tired of settling for less. It sucked to me and this new one doesn't visually look good enough to make me pay 10.00 big ones, lol, to see it. Heres a few still shots from the HD trailer. The bad guy, whatever it is, looks more impressive in stills. The Hulk...ahm... not doing it for me. I wish they gave him bushier eye brows. He still looks ...dare i say it.. handsome? Like a beefed up angry super model. And he moves so stiff. Im tellin ya.. just not good enough. Almost reminds me of the demon graphics i see in Doom 3. His whole body looks like its made of clay. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() HULK deserves better IMHO. He is one of my favorite characters too and thats why I want to see better for him and ourselves. I mean.. have you seen that Marvel Zombie fan video floating about Myspace? Did you see how freaky that hulk looked and how he sounded? It wasn't even CGI. It was a dude, a tall one probably, in a suit. A very impressive suit. Now.. they should have used the suit thing in collab with the cgi. Ironman is going to kick his butt at the box office me thinks. I bet people outside the net are already pissin' on the new hulk film all because of the last one. It's too soon for new release. They should've waited a few more years because I'm still traumatized by the last one. I do feel bad saying all this. But its only my nerdy opinion. |

replied on: 3/14/2008 11:15:29 PM Just for the record: Robert Downey Jr. has a cameo in this movie as Tony Stark, and Samuel L. Jackson has a cameo as Nick Fury. The bad guy is the Abomination (played by Tim Roth). Unfortunately, the only clip of Hulk we see is after he's pretty much dropped a mile or two down into the city. I thought he moved a little stiff because of that (and that he had to pull himself up out of the ground). You know, like when you strain yourself a bit, and then roll your chest and shoulders back to loosen the joints? I thought when he roared, then charged down the street he looked much looser. Also, I think Abomination running down the street looked pretty realistic (although he did look like his legs were a little tense, the simple fact is we have nothing to really compare it to in real life, but if you compare it to how the Hulk was running in the first movie, I think it looked a little better). |

replied on: 3/15/2008 10:17:06 AM marvel zombies to me is probably the coolest idea for zombies ever since army of darkness i like 28 days and 28 weeks later, and pretty much every zombie movie out there like the Australian movie "Undead", but just the idea of super heroes turned into flesh eating maniacs seems awesome to me. dude in the comic book i think the very worst death was magneto's ya know, on another subject, the first hulk movie... out of all the things i did not like, i have to say i did like the scene where he goes against the military. I think it was well made and fun, but that is the only thing i could rescue from it. In this new trailer as he drops from a chopper, that was an idea copied from the ultimates, because in the comic book Banner is in a chopper full of marines and Cap america gives the order to unleash the hulk because it is their last resort weapon against an alien force, so these marines start beating banner up, Banner replies " im too doped up to turn" and then cap says "go to plan B" and they throw him out of the chopper.. hahah The best part was when he finally drops, Fury is like "thats one hell of a thump for a 99 pound girlie man" what happened after that was not pretty... hey so marvel had a problem with a fan movie? that sucks seriously fan made stuff actually should boost their sales, its not like the comic book industry is well off right now, a little publicity by the fans should be flattering |
