replied on: 3/18/2008 12:23:30 PM Is it because I'm a chick? Is it because I'm not a hardcore comic book fan? Or perhaps because I'm not an old horror movie fan... but I think it looks great (trailor for the Hulk) Like Mark said, the cast is really strong and should mean a good movie... we hope... I'm not too bothered by the CG element. Guys in suits a really cool, but it lacks a lot in... you know what... i dont feel so great... im gonna... well... i dunno... hug my Stitch stuffed toy. sorry for cutting so short and stupidly... |

replied on: 3/18/2008 3:25:11 PM Your not the only one Red most of my friends loved the trailer I did like it dont get me wrong but I am disappointed in the visuals big time. Especially when you consider how visually impressive the other marvel movies (iron man looks like it will be the most impressive visually, the quality of the movie is another story but at least you could say it looked pretty like in fantastic four 2 the silver surfer looked amazing and galactus was a cloud from a story stand point thats the dumbest thing ever but at least it was a pretty cloud lol.) I actually prefer the brute like hulks look from the first film more as opposed to the angry super model look if they just made the cg more believable on the old model I think it would be one kickass hulk. Still despite the visuals im checking the movie out the cast seems to be good and it looks fun. I cant really judge the movietoo much until I see it. Im with Nar Iron man is going to kick major ass. They nailed his look and I think even managed to improve it. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark and the movie is beautiful looking. |

"I actually prefer the brute like hulks look from the first film more as opposed to the angry super model look if they just made the cg more believable on the old model I think it would be one kickass hulk." What do you mean by super model look? I think he was way cuter, well more handsome, in the first one. The second one has stronger bone structure which makes him look meaner, less... pretty. ![]() I really hope they focus on the facial expressions as much as in the first one though. I dont know much about The Hulk, but I really like the emotional termoil in him. Id prefer to see confusion, anger, rage, fear, shock on his face rather then just RAAAAHHH and non RAAAAHHH. Oh and what I wanted to say before my brain shut down, was that costumes that involve completely changing the wearers anatomy, always look fake. The body language is all wrong and the weight distribution is often strange. When its a big monster, it doesnt bother us as much, but when its a human, we see every single unatural mouvement and that always takes me out of the action/scene. Thats what I call looking rubbery. I really prefer 100% CG in this situation. The contrast between real and CG would be far too obvious and theres no way they would be able to match the detailed body language and facial expression that CG graphics allow. There you go Oh and yeah, Ironman looks fabulous! When Mark said that Sam Jackson will be in the Hulk as nick fury, does that mean its him in Ironman?? That would kick ass!! I'm really excited about this one. |

replied on: 3/18/2008 5:50:11 PM i see what you mean hulk does look more like a pretty boy in the first film more than in the second film about the CG vs Suit i would like a combination of both because i think it can be made to work, Alien vs Predatorand AVP requiem had a humanoid looking creatures and i think it worked . im not sure how relevant it would be for hulk though since he is anatomically closer to a real human than aliens would be. Iron man looks great not about the CG because i have only seen a few seconds of two suits, so i need to see more to judge, same with hulk |

replied on: 3/18/2008 6:48:03 PM If you think even partially, suitmation should have been involved, I have one thing to say to you: Goro in Mortal Kombat. 'Nuff said In the first movie, the Hulk was made to resemble Eric Bana, and thus looks "smoother". In the second movie, while it's still designed to resemble (slightly) a mutated Ed Norton, it also resembles a comic book drawing (since the facial musculature and bone structure tends to be emphasized). As for Aliens vs. Predator, you can't even really begin to compare. Humanoid, but distinctly alien. Hulk is more like "hyper human". |

replied on: 3/18/2008 7:17:56 PM yeah this pic looks more badass than whats in the trailer lol. What I meant about the super model thing does probably lie mostly in the bone structure he looks less pretty cause hes growling and yelling this hulk probably does look more handsome if hes not pissed off. I dont think the hulk from the first one was handsome to me he looked childish which is what I liked about him. The hulk despite all of the rage has an odd kind of innocence about him and just wants to be left alone. I also think that the old Hulk cg was able to convey a broader range of emotion the newer hulk looks like he is only capable of anger and destruction (yes this is an important aspect to the hulk but theres more to his character than just wrecking stuff) |

replied on: 3/18/2008 9:53:23 PM quote: There was actually no CGI used for Goro in the entire movie. He was one unimpressive looking monster suit with electronics. Jurrasic Park, uses both live animatronics and CGI. The slight use of animatronic dinos in scattered scenes of the movie, really helped amp up the realisim where CGI would actually have difficulty in doing so. CGI isnt perfected yet but it's almost there. But when it comes to physical movement, it seems to be its only drawback in most cases. A simple 3 second shot of a rubbery CGI model in action can really make me lose interest. And don't get me wrong. Though I expressed my feelings about this very strongly at first, I really don't care all that much. But if I were to respectfully pretend i was calling the shots, I would have made sure that all the mechanics would have the flow of more realistic movement from beginning to end. Im not really picking on the model design as much as the movements. It looks better than the first one in my opinion. But I'm still biased. I love detail! However, the movements aren't all there yet IMO. The shots look like something i saw in Final Fantasy, the whole running bit and everything. I mean, it just doesnt look real enough to me. And I never compared the face with the last movie. I already stated that it looked better though when it was brought up I still felt that the trailer showed an enlarged human face on a green body. In terms of what I remember as the Hulk.. I think that what I'm looking for here is his wider jaw structure. You know? The bigger mouth look he carries in most of his funny books. More bulldog-like. But you know, that detail isn't all that important to me either. My little fanboyish and annoying rant here only reflects the same rant Steven Spielberg made about Go-motion (at the time Jurrasic Park was being produced over 10 years ago) and how even though it was being worked with the best go-motion artists in the world, yet there was still something jerky about it. Something go-motiony. Sure the dino models looked real and it impressed his kids, but he didnt see it. He wasnt convinced enough. And thats how I feel about this Hulk. It looks great. Badass even. But once he got thrown in the lands of reality, there was something a bit too CGI'ish about it that it did'nt convince me enough to make plans for it. Now..had its looked the way i picture it clearly in my head, I would be jumping with joy off my seat right now. Where would animatronics fit in Hulk? Well, I would definitely attempt something for extremely upclose shots. Like his mouth, nose, eyes. His big feet. A shot of his arm. Things like that, whereas more difficult shots like him running and fighting, would of course, make use of computer graphics. Painstakingly good computer graphics. But dont try to convince me otherwise. Because in the end, its only my silly little insignificant opinion. |

replied on: 5/23/2008 10:58:16 AM See, this is where I get confused to hell and back about the Hulks look. I always thought that the Hulk in the first movie had too much of a baby face. The Hulk in the second movie looks truer to the look of the Hulk in the older comics. BTW, there's a scene in the new Hulk movie where a Hummer is being thrown into a building. That was filmed downtown in my city of Hamilton Ontario Canada. Yayyyyyyyyy for me. |

replied on: 5/24/2008 3:11:27 PM Just to cover an issue brought up in the thread (namely, the Hulk kicking Blonksy in the second trailer) SPOILER SPACE The Abomination is brought about due to the Super Soldier Serum (kind of a take on the Ultimate Hulk). By the scene in the trailer when Hulk kicks him, he has already had several treatments of the serum. The scene that Soldierone posted in the other thread where Blonksy is fighting Hulk is only due to his already being somewhat augmented). |

replied on: 5/25/2008 9:17:57 AM Oh I was wondering how he was moving like thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking to myself this is utterly ridiculous hes moving more like cap than a soldier and now I know there is a reason behind that. Im still not looking forward to this movie but the Avengers tie ins may make it worth viewing at some point. Or at the very least looking up the tie ins on youtube. |
