the books I baught in the UK + one online purchase
posted on: 3/16/2008 12:06:25 PM

Yes IM LAZY!! So I took a picture instead of writing em all out... If any of you want more details, just ask and Ill answer

The Wolverine book and the Spidey book are particularly stunning. Both completely different styles, one more painterly and the other clean and almost cartoony, but both so beautiful!! The Wolverine book is about his rivalry with Sabertooth... very very violent, very very cool!

*Kick-Ass* is a hilariously written story about a kid who has no powers who gears up as a super hero and tries to fight crime with a not so great result. The artwork is good too. Great book.

The *StreetFighter* books are AWESOME!! AMAZING drawings and great story, well duh. I know, I know... I have Vol. 1 and 3... Thats cause Im an idiot and when i went back to the store to get another, I was sure I had vol 2 cause they didnt have vol 1... WRONG! anywho, Ill get vol 2 and vol 4 soon enough.

*Strange cases* is a book illustrated by David Hartman (awesome monster specialist http://www.sideshowmonkey.com/)His art is what attracted me to the book but Its a really cool story too. I could only find volume 3 though... gotta get my hands on the first two volumes...

The online purchase is *SUPERWORLD* written by Jeff Aden, drawn by Ben Glendenning http://www.skulljammer.com/main.html(who did kick ass work on MM07 with waterproof crayola markers for crying out loud!!)and cloured by Garry Henderson. I only really know Ben of the three, but he's an awesome dude and the book looked great so I baught it. and WOW, the artwork is great all way through!! NO bad parts in the artwork, NONE!! The colours are beautiful and really enhance Bens cartoon/comic style. I havent read it yet though... but Im sure its good.

Heres where you can get it if ya wanna have a look and support great comic creators

Maybe Im not so lazy after all HAHA! Hell, i think I'll post this on other forums too! Why not spread the word all round!

oh yeah i have read these

the wolverine evolution one was amazing
have you read the whole thing?
i don't want to spoil it but it is a very interesting take on wolverine's origins and purpose.

the avengers initiative one was great because i like the character MVP, and all the crap they have put him and his clones through, also like Task master

the One with the hulk i liked because im intrigued by that red hulk and why he is hunting down tony stark, earlier he did a number on she hulk, and i loved the epic scene when the helicarrier was collapsing

the Armaggedon book by wildstorm is good because the art is amazing and i love the character "Nemesis" she is just the immortal goddess i have come to like as a character and well i like wild cats and the authority as well as time travel and doomsday futures so this title is cool as hell

Wow I have most of those books myself. Initiative, Hulk, and Spiderman are all insane reads with beautiful art. If you havent get the latest issue of the initiative your jaw will drop that and Nova I think are two of the best marvel books.

I loved Kickass that book is actually the one book I am most looking forward to seeing future issues of it felt like peter parker if he grew up in todays world. Very believable and real and the book is hilarious. It was very interesting reading about the main character because I felt oddly connected to him we share a lot of the same interests (i.e. xbox, comics, scrubs, etc.) but at the same time he was kind of a jerk. I couldn't help but think I know one or two people like that. And the concept of the book is awesome I mean who hasnt thought about being a super hero at one point this books shows what would happen if someone was crazy enough to try it.

hahah ya know surf somehow i knew you would comment on this thread

it seems we have similar taste
hahah

keep rocking bro

i just got the new Fantastic four by Millar and Hitch

looks promising

even has that blockbuster movie feel to it ya know

i cant wait to go and read issue two now
i just bought it yesterday

also reading the mighty avengers
dont know whats up with that but i saw venom and carnage and they seem to be multiplying and taking over heroes left and right
so yeah it looks interesting

other than that i read a little DC the countdown series are pretty damn cool
because they can be standalone but they are one grend story of cosmic destruction

love the Extremists, it is one of the best titles DC could come up with

and several count downs have insane art

worth checking

Dude youll love Fantastic four especially if you loved the first two volumes of ultimates. It feels very different than the ultimates (except for the scope of the story, some very big stuff is going on) The first issues great and the 2cnd one is even better.

Wow the fact that you picked that up and i already had it proves we have similar tastes lol. Rock on man!

Wow, I know nothing!! I just picked most of these off the shelves cause of good artwork (the singles, not the bigger books)And you guys know all about 'em.... sheesh... I'm jealous.

I have so many reasons to get my life/health in order! If I sort myself out, I'll have the time and the energy to read comics and actually discuss them with yall!

I can say a couple things about 'em though... like... yes Kick Ass has crazy potential and I too am looking forward to the next issues.

and Phantro, the books I have... of StreetFighter, are the UDON CREW produced books. Man I love those guys. I have them saved on deviant art.

crap i should have breakfast before I get tired again and slump back to bed...

anywho, very cool of you guys to show interest in this post!

well these books do have killer art
i buy them because of the art mainly but if i dig the story i will go ahead and buy the paperback, so that way i have the full story and the one single issue that made me want to buy it .

the wolverine one is perhaps one of my favorite ones and i don't like realistic comic art as much as i like the stylized cartoony style, but this one was amazing
