I just beat it last night and I gotta say I had a freakin' great time playing it! The game start's off with you being a nobody who's really just in the wrong place at the wrong time. You get saved by Julius, leader of the 3rd Street Saints. He asks if you wanna roll and of course you do so you join the Saints. At first it's just a slow game.. and I was getting a bit bored with it. But as it progressed it got better and better. The graphic's were the best a open world game has ever had until the recent surfacing of GTA IV of course. The way you could customized a car was the best part though, I mean you could almost do anything you could imagine to it. The weapons were kind of weak I'd say, there was no real need to buy weapons at all really. And when you do a mission they made it so specific weapons have unlimited ammo which kind of made it easy... At the end of the day, all you really needed to get the job done is the same gun you start off with. Uzi's are good when you're chasing down a vehicle, but other then that you can manage. The game itself is almost a complete rip of GTA. However with a perk, you can be YOU. As in you can design the character look however you want to, and there's 100's of ways to do it. Kind of like creating a player in a sports game, cept with more features. Side activities were fun to do also, you could do stuff such as the chop shop where you basically look for certain cars and turn them in for loot. Or Insurance Fraud where you take a dive infront of a moving vehicle. Police notoriety in this game is too easy. Unlike in GTA where they pull out everything, the tanks, the fbi, swat. While Saints does all this, except for the tank it's pretty lackluster. I evaded the cops for 35min standing in one spot with a shotgun... Lets not forget they incorporate a thing like GTA's mechanics thing called, Forgive and Forget so you can easily get away from the cops. The best part about the game for me was doing the missions and the cut-scenes that came with them. All the characters had such great facial expressions, and attitude to them. And the missions were fun, although for the most part all you do is take out hordes of rival gangs and eventually get to the boss it was still fun. The ending was pretty epic, depending on how you want to end it. There's 3 dif ways to do that technically. I decided to end it with the Vice Kings being the last crew I took out and it was rather cinematic. Then there's a few more missions afterwards that leads to another ending, which leaves you in suspense. At the end of the day, I'd rate it 9/10. While a rip off, it had alot of originality. Endless ways to customize your character and vehicles, tons of activities that tend to get harder and harder. Great graphics, funny radio shows, and amazing explosions. I know this game is a few years old, but it was my first time playing it so just thought I'd drop a review. |
