replied on: 8/29/2008 2:34:11 PM your own version of spawn? can you like re- make an existing version to fit your liking? let me explain: lets say for example you think the Cyber spawn toy sucked (it actually is a cool looking toy) and you think you could re-design it better. so you come up with your own original version of what a Cyber spawn should look like. sort of like play toy concept designer. would that be fair? see there are already a lot of spawn concepts done, ninja spawn, samurai spawn, master chief spawn, manga spawn. and i would hate to have to come up with Mudball spawn, garbage pail spawn or ballerina spawn just to be original because cool ninja spawn was already taken and there is a toy of it. |

Just as I try to improve as an artist I am also trying to improve in everyday life, but the only way to do that is by realizing what is not being done. Hope to see quite a few of us turn out for this.....but in case you can't, well we also do understand that not everyone thinks alike. See you guys here on Sunday.

replied on: 9/1/2008 10:36:02 AM hey i had a question for you guys, and it is sort of related to this topic of pushing yourself to produce art and finding the time to do it etc. what if you don't feel inspired to do it? we all understand how inspiration plays a big role in what we do... so what happens when you just are not inspired to do it? pro's have to produce all the time, and i understand that drawing becomes like second nature after a while you draw and you put stuff out anyway because it is your job or because you have a deadline to do it? does it come out the same as when you are into it and totally excited about what you do, versus just doing it to meet a deadline? some of you already do this for a living. Another group of you want to do this for a living and that is why you push yourselves very hard to do it and be better. and i was curious to see what goes through your mind and how much does inspiration play a role in your work? is inspiration just a psychological state of mind? or is it actual? can you force yourself to be inspired? is artistic block real?

replied on: 9/1/2008 9:14:02 PM These are all very good questions Phan!!! Well this is what goes through my mind and mine only. I know we all have our own meaning for doing this. For me I don't see inspiration as a big part for me producing good art or just art in general. It's more of doing it cause I just love to create and draw. When I get a mental block it's not cause I cant think of anything but because I let my personal life ( and sometimes for stupid reasons ) get to me. Life is not really all that hard. It's only as hard as you let it be. That's why I said what I did on my last post. I know what I want and I know that it takes a lot to get where you want to be so I do put my art above a lot of other things. If you do it just as a hobby well you will definitely not put art in front of your social or personal life. It's just something that you do to pass the time and do something that you like but for the moment only. Someone that does this for a living does it cause he loves it and because it brings in the bread and butter. So this is why I do it and why it's not really that hard for me to get into it........Because I want to do it!!!! The only thing that will make me not want to do it or be in a block it's cause I am the one letting it happen. So all I can say is find what you want to do and do it well. If it's not a passion then you'll do it only when you want. |
