replied on: 7/23/2008 8:59:55 PM Hey everyone sorry for the lack of log in time but I am just getting started with my quarter so I'm just trying to get a good start on it. Seems like it's going to be a lighter quarter than others so It'll give me time to get some stuff done for Tribe. So I have been playing with poses and more small sketching and I as I was also thumbing through my Wizard Mag and saw Electro. I've never drawn him so I thought I'd give him a go. It's not done yet but thought you might want to take a peep. Enjoy People!!!  |

I only see a small problem and its the same probelm im having (ive done a few more cards since my last post), and its that same problem that Red said we would encounter our first few times around. Its getting adjusted to the smaller space and being able to fit what we wanna fit onto the card and fit it in there accuratetly. But, with some practice, that problem should fade away. example: Wolvies Chest is awkwardly positioned and a little too stretched for the pose he is in and doesnt seem like it would paralell with his spine. Wolvies hand is lacking definition and if you hadnt drawn in the claws, it would be difficult to tell (by an ordinary eye) that it is his fist. And something that it is hard to fix on a small space is the fluidity of the ink lines. There is a small problem with fuzzy lines on Wolvie here. I dont know if its the pen u are using or if its the strokes. Its easier to use a Micron pen and quick swift strokes to avoid the fuzzies. And i am 100% sure that this will look better when it it is placed on an actual card  Hope i wasnt to harsh, and i hope this helps |

As for the Wolvie....One thing that I say is don't make any excuses about who, what, or where. I accept all and every crit regardless of any situations. I take this like any job where they don't care what's going on in your life as long as you get out what they are paying you to do. I'm not getting paid for this but that's how I take it. Thanks for you input Law!!  Nar - Thanks man, I was hoping to get this one done but because of the regular ( and cheap as hell ) copy paper that I am using for these practice runs just takes a beating and tears if you erase too much. I think I"m just going to go straight to the card stock and take it like a man  I have to start sometime and it's better now than later. Thanks for the time man!!!

replied on: 8/13/2008 7:07:29 PM hey everyone, well since I have been on the move to my new place I have not stopped sketching and I know I said that I was going to go straight to the card instead of the templates but I was not settled in yet. So I take my clip board everywhere with me and here is something that I did at the DMV ( yeah I was there for a while  )Anyhoo here are two that I inked after just to get some more practice in. Enjoy People!!!

You have the muscles down in the right places, but the perspective, proportion is a little difficult. However, definitely more improvement. I really liked you Electro card the best only because his structure worked better than all the other cards you did. Really concentrate on the under structure of the body. When I see you at Wizard world, I hope we can find time to cover some basics that I think will have you leap ahead of your game. Simple little tricks that will help you always get the right structure. Because your energy and details are rockin. |
