The Dark knight Tonight!

One of the best movies I have seen in a while. Loved every second of it. 5 stars!!!!!

I also agree that the movie is a solid crime drama not just a superhero movie. I think that is what separates it from other movies in this genre. Would be great without the costumes and makeup.

I officially hated Tobey Maguire Spiderman since part 3. They made him into a cry baby wuss. Part 3...all I can remember was crying. Crying crying and more crying.
Yuk.

yah, there was a lot of crying but it was all building up anyways. This is what i tell to people that hated the movie because of the crying:
I mean, come on....
You would cry too if you had been in his situation...and dont try to tell me you wouldnt have because you are some manly man impervious to pain and heartache.
He lost his uncle, who to him was his father and the killer is still running around out in the world. On top of that, thinking the whole time that you could have stopped your uncle from dying if you had stopped the crook that got back at the guy who jipped you in the first place. Then your best friends dad, who you looked up to, Tries to kill you and ends up killling himself instead. And after that event, your bestfriend hates you and wants to kill you because he thinks your a bad person (which would already bother me) and that you are a murderer who killed his father. And the Doc Oc that you looked up to turned to an evil man and tries to kill you and your girlfriend. Then you finally get to be with the girl you've loved since elementary (even after she was engaged to someone else) and she doesnt understand what you are going through and then leaves you before you get the chance to propose to her because you want to spend your life with her. Then some bonehead takes your job from you. Then having the city you save everyday hate you, and then when finally, some start to love you, your girlfriend is mad at you because you enjoy the fact that you finally have some thankfull people. And then!!! to top it off, Your bestfriend finally comes to light on the subject of his fathers death, only to be killed at the end by the bonehead that took your job from you!!!
Trust me, you would cry!

And the Dark Knight was brilliant but there were issues....ill spill them after everyone has seen the movie

Nope, sorry, totally disagree with ya in every point you just made. lol First off, Peter crybaby Parker showed much less emo symptoms in part 2. He seemed to have came with terms about his uncle too by that film. It wouldnt be ethical that all of a sudden, he becomes super ultra emo in part 3 based on the events that he seemed to have gotten over in part 1. He cried for EVERYTHING in part 3. He dropped a penny, he cried. He farted while riding a cab, he cried. When the sun came up, he cried.
lol..

I hate that film, it was retarded and just an overall mess. No solid villain to develope. 3 villains, one film, equals to a forceful half assed production.

Part 1 was very nice. Emotional, but not tooooo much. Just enough to convey and justify Pete's actions.
Part 2, a neat popcorn film. Nothing amaaazing but a solid enough and fun film to watch.

Part 3.. Aye dios mio! Que te pasa men? Here's a box of kleenex for ya!

Of course, these are all just my opinions.

Now... On to business!

Now keep in mind everyone. IM ONE TOUGH COOKIE TO IMPRESS. I give out the harshest movie reviews ever. So when I come across one I actually enjoy, you will know it. But all in all, its just my meaningless review. So dont get all bent out of shape because I oppose the concensus.

I went to see Dark Knight twice.

I think the movie was a good film.
But... I have to say, It didnt really hit the spot like i was hoping it would. And I found the geeky fan hype to be a bit overrated.

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

Let's start from the top. Scarecrow.... WTF is he doing in back in this film? All he did was confuse the audience.

Though we know he never actually died... I wasn't at all, happy to see that character's face again. He had absolutely NO purpose in this film. Non whatsoever. It was soo odd. It was like watching M.Knight Shaymalan making a cameo in his own movies. Well..almost as obnoxious.
Scarecrow didn't even put up a fight or anything. The action was over in a minute with ScareCrow farting his last line at Batman which I guess was supposed to be funny... and I never reached my climax.

Boooo.

You then have civilians dressed up as Batman trying to take matters in their own hands. That was also odd. It couldve been cool. I mean, the concept sure is. But the direction wasnt that great. I had to fill in the blanks to understand who they were.

And you don't see Batman in action all that much in general (but I guess I shouldn't complain what with that god awful mask of his). Can someone redesign the freakin thing again? Because he looks more like Catman now with a neck brace.

Second, I was tremendously distracted with Heath Ledger since he's, well...dead. So it was good that I saw it twice. I wanted to concentrate more on the film rather than one actor's performance which was in my truthful opinion, good, but not phenomenal or something worth casting in bronze, let alone, an award. Just because the man died, doesn't give him the extra leverage for an award. I'm sorry. Every actor today would jump off a bridge if that were the case.

In my opinion, I think the film was a nice production, yes. But it was very lengthy and I found myself both, dozing off and bracing myself to my seat a couple of times.

The new girl who replaced Katie Holmes...

What - the - heck - happened? Did I miss something?
She looks like a much older version of her. In fact, almost damn old enough to be Bruce's Mom, or Aunt. It made no sense to me when he'd walk in with really attractive young models, only to be in love with someone who looked way passed her prime, age wise. Those rings and bags under her eyes were unforgiveable. Her acting wasn't all that amazing to justify the casting choice.

It was hard looking at her because she actually looks somewhat related to Katie Holmes and I found myself wondering what happened to Katie's face a few times. They both have those droopy sad eyes except one looks older than the other now.

I'm glad she's not coming back again.

Joker...aaaalmost. Actually, it wasn't really Heath's fault. He did a pretty nice job playing a psychotic character.

It was the direction I had trouble with. I was hoping for something with more room for Joker to play with. The best part was when he was in the hospital with the wig...but then he took it off in a second. I would have loved it if he kept it on for atleast 5 minutes because that was hilarious.

If youre going to go in the direction of sick and twisted, you better go ALL the way.

But...pg13 right? heh.

Now, the GOOD part in this film I truly appreciated... was Harvey Dent's character developement. Nice and strong enough to attach yourself to.

In fact, they should've just canned the Joker and everyone else and kept Two face as the main focus.

You got more Harvey Dent than Joker anyways! We got nothing about the joker's origin aside from some cheap tale about his father cutting out his mouth to put a smile on his face. Meh.

And Joker was supposed to be the main villain! But who's got more screen time? Friggin Harvey Dent. I was more intimidated by Two Face than I was with Joker.

Two Face was much more scary to look at. lol. They did an awesome job with the cgi.

This film was filled with morals and more philosophies to the point where they weren't even trying to keep them subliminal anymore.

Don't get me wrong though, guys. It was a cool film. I enjoyed the first one sooo much more than this second one, though.
But its not a bad film.

It most definitely has a lot of hype floating around it over Heath Ledger whom I'm sorry to say, wasn't the best Joker I ever experienced on film.
Although Jack Nicholson played a complete opposite version in Tim Burton's BATMAN, the fact that Jack's Joker emebed itself automatically into my twisted brain, says a lot about performance and iconic quality.

Heath's Joker had only so much of it going for him. BUT, still good. Just not something I care to remember. :/

This movie was also pretty depressing from the very get go. I don't remember it even ending on a good note. Just a very philosophical ending about him being a dark knight.
Then role credits!

It was a good film. But I totally was floating on fanboy hype expecting multiple orgasms.

I didnt even get 1.
But it was a fun ride. Very much a "drama" rather than your typical cool Batman'esque film.
Hope the rest of you enjoyed it more than I did.

Ironman is still the only film I've seen in relation to comics that left a good feeling in my heart. Even the new Hulk couldnt destroy that.

Well I didn't want to take up too much space with your very good ( I think ) review so I just filled it in with those periods!!!

So, I did see The Dark Knight and what did I think???....well about 75% of what you said except for the Joker Part. I really really did enjoy seeing that side of the Joker on screen...... unfortunately it was a PG-13 flick which really didn't allow him to be what he can really be! I didn't go see it just cause Heath Passed, Nor cause I'm a huge Batman fan!! I'm a comic book fan and I will see what they throw at me but doesn't always mean that I will like it.
I was pretty annoyed by Batman fake voice. I know that he's doing that alter ego thing but it was just annoying to me.
Harvey Dent did get a lot of screen time but I hoped to have seen more of the Joker just cause he made you be on the edge of your seat more so than the others. Again it could have been better but they had to make it viewable to the mass majority
All in all it was what it was.....a good movie but not the Best!!!! I don't care if it makes a Gazillion Bucks, to me Spider-Man has to be the top one just cause they really made you believe in the story, character wise and story wise. The fact that they only concentrated on the main hero and main villain made didn't make it that complicated like others that have multiple characters running around.
I know that it all comes down to what you like but putting favorites aside.....I doubt that Batman is the best ever. To me it's still third to Spider-Man and right behind Iron Man.
It's really hard to please everyone, especially us FanBoys but just as I'm a fan boy, I am glad that I am in a time where they are brining our comics to life in a really good way.

You know I was thinking about a little movie that they made back in the day called Blade!!! It was gory, dark, and bloody!!! and best of all it was rated R!
The movie was great and it was what opened the door to all these movies. It was so hidden that if you blinked you would not have known that it was based on a Marvel character.
I understand that they want the kiddies to go and watch it and that's fine with character like Iron Man, X-Men, Spider-Man but when it comes to dark characters you have to push it a little further.
I mean even with the new Wolverine flick coming out you would think that they would show him off as that darker/killer instincts character that he is.
I see what's going on in comics today with all the more-for-adult stories that are out there. It's really selling and I read that people are diggin them so why not make a movie that is more adult oriented.
I know I'm out of my league here for many reasons but I just wanted to voice my opinion.
What and How do you guys think about this??? Let us know.

Theres a secret formula. A balance that can make a comic based movie do extremely well.
Ironman is a great example of this. He looks like Ironman, acts like him and overall nothing much has changed aside from a really cool yet similar iron suit.
The story was cool and the actor really help make it happen.

I swear... I can visualize a kick ass X-MEN movie. I mean seriously kick ass.
It would have had many elements from its early 80's comic books as well as that cool 90's energy without stripping away its cool mysterious backdrop which modern comics are doing.

In short, Wolverine would have defintely sported his brown and tan suit. People were easy to moan that it would look stupid if he wore yellow spandex. But those people have no imagination or the idea that "duh", he wouldnt be wearing the spandex material at all, cuz lets face it, leotards are not cool in real life. But instead, he would be adorned with either rubbery, leathery material like Batman, or something along that lines. A design in which Striker could have given him as a code assassin, up until Logan tore it all off and then graduated to his new martix rip off suit. You know...the black ones with the lack of imagination or creativty? Or as I would call it, a producer's/director's easy way out.

And with costumes, comes a greater responcibilty in directing. A director would have to decide to show Wolverine in his suit, literally stab and slash with his claws. And of course, blood.
This would shake up the audience and have them take the comic book concept more serious. Like Robocop for instance.

At first, people all over thought it was a stupid name and a concept for kids. Except, it was actually rated R, full of vulgarity and violence galore. Robocop is not kiddie movie. Its BADASS. Period.

X-MEN could have used some of that bad ass'ness quality in their film. But they opted for something less creative.

Though, safely, everything went ok for the first 2 films. I dont know what the hell happened in part 3. yuk.

Haha! I haven't seen Ironman yet. Sounds cool though.

About the X-men: They could have gone with Wolverines new gettup. I like his new costume alot more than the previous one. Of course the Brown and Tan would be cool as well.

I hated the chick they had play Jean, She looked like a drag queen to me. I really wish they would have done the original line up first. Then work in Wolverine, Rogue, ect.

The first one I loved when I first saw it, only now when I think about it, it seemed thrown together much like the third one. I think three is an unlucky number. Look at the third Batman movie thats when they started going down hill. Speaking of...

*SPOILERS*
So yeah I finally got to see Batman Dark Knight. And I gotta say, it wasn't really that great. Im with Nar on a majority of what he said. The Joker thing not so much.

I loved the Joker. He could have used a little more character development. It reminded me a lot of Venom in Spider-Man3. Just thrown in there. I don't think the he lived up to all the hype on the net though. And I don't think he deserves an award. To me it just seems like a lot of people are saying this only on the grounds that he had passed.

Two-Face, oh Two-Face was awesome! Loved the way they did him. Wish They would have kept him alive though. Would have made for a great sequel.

I didn't really like the ending all that much. Made sense, but I still didn't like it.
A lot of this movie reminded me of the Spider-Man Movies. Just different elements seemed to be cloned. A lot the morals and such.

All n All I enjoyed the flick. Definitely not something to take the kids to.

Hmmm . . . ok. I'm the guy and all but I have to disagree with Nar's and Joe-D's view on the Joker. Actually, I believe that he whole film was very well balanced with the cast that they had.

SPOILERSSS!!!!!

Honestly, I think that Heath's Joker was by far the definitive Joker. Smart, insane, vicious and playful . . . god knows I laughed my ass off when he tapped the detonator as he blew up the hospital. And honestly . . . the Joker was the reason Dent became Two Face.

He broke Harvey Dent. And that was definitely an impact that I felt so proud of. Ok. That sounds creepy but we are talking about the JOker and Two Face.

Christian Bale is a terrific Batman that I would love to see him down another two more Bat films. Although, I am not sure that Harvey is Dead.

And for the love of god . . . why so serious?

Hi Seraph! First off, welcome to the boards! =]

I'm glad you enjoyed the film much better than Joe and I did. However, don't get me wrong. I didn't really have too much time to elaborate on my views of the Joker.

See, I think Heath did a good job on him. I just wanted MORE of him and less of everyone else. However, he became more of a side dish to the entire banquet displayed on the big screen.

They spent a lot more time developing Harvey Dent, forcing me to appreciate him a whole lot more as a star villain than the Joker.

I'm a very hard fan to impress when it comes to film. Little cute things like him not being able to set the detonator off at the hospital made me smirk, not laugh, (though i heard a few joker like laughs at the theater during that scene haha...geez) but the part with him wearing the wig saying "hi", was greeeat.

And I emphasize on my statement, it was NOT a bad film. Just not orgasmic like I thought it would be based on my mistake of floating on fanboy hype all over the net.

Oh and one last gripe I had in the film.... Batman's voice...

A bit much?
Hell, I couldn't understand much of things he said even after the second go-around.

Like an angry bear screaming out his words.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2yv8aT0UFc remember this one Nar?

Anyway, I liked the film as well. It just didn't live up to the hype. I'm not trying to echo what Nar said at all. I just was expecting more. It was a long ass movie that honestly, drug on way longer than it needed to. All that time I think they could have put a lot more Joker in, and a lot more effort.

My wife and i agree on that one. We both hated his voice in both films and you mentioned his costume in a previous post. Both of us were very disapointed in the costume as well.

I still liked the movie alot tho. I guess im a sucker for comic movies seeing as how there are only 2 of them i dont like and thats Elektra and Batman Begins
