Otis Redding- Anthology: "I wanted to learn a song off it and I didn't have it with me. I've bought every album he's made".
James Brown- Ballads: "I like his voice from those early ballad records. He almost sounds like a woman and you don't really hear any of that on the radio".
Nikka Costa- Everybody Got Their Something: "I bought that record for someone else because I've been trying to get people to listen to it. It's great ..."
And You Will Know Us By Yhe Trail of Dead: "It reminded me of 1982 post-punk independent music in the US, the period when Soundgarden were just starting out".
White Stripes- White Blood Cells:"I bought this but I haven't really listened to it yet".

Quite the wide spectrum of musical flavors there!
He's obviously been listening the White Stripes a lot more recently.

actually, i'm a huge fan of trail of the dead. they are one of the few bands who honestly haven't been corrupted by their own commercial success or lack thereof.

I like Otis Redding, it's a pity that his untimely death has robbed our world of a great talent.
At the age of 7 I had heard 'Dock of the Bay' and was completely blown. A timeless classic.

I'm sure I saw a clip of a performance of Otis' on tv and they had to physically pull him off stage because he didn't want to leave. It was refreshing to see that sort of passion and commitment to his art. He was definitely caught up in the moment.

And you can't go wrong with a bit of James Brown Owwwwww
