Hi I ahve managed to trace my family tree to 1815 when John Palk married Anne Hill at Staverton. I believe he was born in 1790 and his parents were William and Mary (Perrett).

How much information have you managed to uncover?

I believe you are correct. John Palk and Ann Hill had a son, Henry (born May 1831) who married Ann Tinkham. They had children, James (born 1858, Penn Quarry Staverton), William, Samuel, Ellen and Charlotte. I also believe James married Harriet Ann Worth on 4th November 1831. They had a son William Henry who died 14th June 1943, buried in Falkland Islands.
I don't know if John Palk and Ann Hill had more than one child.
Any comments?

Do you know about William PALK baptised in Staverton 1819? He and Sarah had James E PALK in Staverton about 1847, and then went to live in Frogmore, Sherford, nearKingsbridge.

I have lots of PALKs in my database, in Littlehempston, then Ipplepen, then overseas. They are mentioned in my "Ipplepen" book. Have we been in touch about this family?

John Palk ( was a mariner) married Anne Hill in 1815 as you said and had 3 sons. John who was born in 1820, William in 1820 and Henry.

John married Jane Snell on Oct 6th 1842. They had John born 1845, Emily, Thurza and Elizabeth followed.

John moved to Torquay. Married Sarah ? and had Mary known as Polly. Married (2) Sarah SAmpson from Dartmouth in 1880 and had a son Walter Herbert born 1881. He moved to Plumstead, London where he married Ethel Page. They had a son named Reginald and a daughter, Constance. Ethel died in 1918. The 2 children moved to Totnes to stay with Polly and Harry Atwell at the forge, Bridge Town.

Hope this helps you. do you have any information about William and Mary (Perrett).

I am seeking info on Samuel Palk who is found in America in 1600`s. He is the first Palk to be found in America. I descend thru him. Who are his parents? How did he come to America? I believe he had a brother John that came with him, I may be wrong. The Palk`s are very hard to find any info on.. By the by, the Palk name changed to Paulk and other spellings, as Samuel is buried as Samuel Paulk died 1711. Anyway. How can I find out who his parents were? ANy help is greatly appreciated. God Bless>>>> By the way he was married to Sarah Brabrook/Brabrooke and they had several children.

I'm searching the Palk family from England to Canada.
John was from England. His son Henry left England and moved to Nova Scotia and then to New Brunswick, Canada. His son Samuel was born in New Brunswick, Canada.
Samuels's son, William was my Grt. Grandfather.
The spelling was changed to Palk, Pulk and most recently to Polk.
Any information would be most appreciated!

William PALK who married Mary PERRETT 14th June 1781 are my 4th Great Grandparents.

Their daughter was Mary PALK b 1795 who married John BOWDEN 14th February 1809 at Staverton. From other postings I note that there were other siblings.

Mary and John had Eliza BOWDEN b 1811 who married Abraham SEARLE 8th April 1836, had two children, Eliza b 1837 at Staverton, George b 1839 at Ashburton, then emigrated to Melbourne Aust in 1840 where they had another 8 children. The first born in Melbourne was James Bowden SEARLE who is my line.
