Ancestors in Staverton
replied on: 5/3/2005 6:56:50 PM

There are still Searle's living within the Parish, although they seem to be of two families (they must have all decended from a common ancestor though).Ned Searle - don't know wife's maiden name but can find out easily, had 3 sons who are still living at Memory Cross. There is another relative of a Searle, married to a Mithelmore now, her mother was a Searle of the Searle's who owned the bakery and shop in Staverton village. This Searle also had a connection with Town Mills,(below the Church)where they would grind corn to take to the bakery. This was a thriving business many years ago.
