replied on: 12/26/2005 9:47:51 PM I trace my ancestry back to Henry Bradridge who married Mary Searell on Feb 7, 1722 in Staverton. They were my sixth great grandparents. Their daughter Joan married Henry Norman in Staverton on Feb 7, 1755 in Staverton. Elizabeth Norman, daughter of Joan and Henry, married James Allen a merchant of Manchester, on Mar 20, 1778 in Staverton. Mary Allen, daughter of Elizabeth and James, married Charles Edwards in Staverton on June 9, 1806 in Staverton. These were my third great grandparents. Would be interested in learning of any connections and/or parents of Henry Bradridge and Mary Searell. |

Ancestors in Staverton
replied on: 5/3/2005 6:56:50 PM There are still Searle's living within the Parish, although they seem to be of two families (they must have all decended from a common ancestor though).Ned Searle - don't know wife's maiden name but can find out easily, had 3 sons who are still living at Memory Cross. There is another relative of a Searle, married to a Mithelmore now, her mother was a Searle of the Searle's who owned the bakery and shop in Staverton village. This Searle also had a connection with Town Mills,(below the Church)where they would grind corn to take to the bakery. This was a thriving business many years ago. |

Ancestors in Staverton
replied on: 10/31/2004 3:45:41 PM My 3xgt grandfather was Thomas Searle, bn 1780 in Staverton. He left Staverton and brought up his fammily at Court House Farm in Dittisham. He was son of Wm Searle 1755-1806 and Rebecca Bradridge. 4xgt grandparents were George Searle and Mary Mann, son of Samuel Searle 1686 and Judith Caunter. All the local names, Palk, Lapthorne, Scoble, etc crop in the family tree. Are any of my relations still living in Staverton? does any of this ring a bell with anyone? Newtake seems to have been where the Searles lived. We visited Staverton on Friday last week - what a lovely place! |
