Two episodes actually.... I have to say, I was NOT impressed! In the first episode they went to Eastern State Penitentiary - A notoriously haunted prison in Philadelphia that has ghost tours. These guys had 9 video recorders running throughout the prison at all times and however many people taking pictures and recording audio and they came out of the prison with not so much as ONE SINGLE ORB on video or ONE SINGLE EVP!? Something is wrong here! BUT, they did manage to "produce" some kind of light at the end of a hallway that moved back and forth/up and down in a robotic fashion and tried to call it an orb! Sorry guys, that was NOT an orb, nor was it anything paranormal. I say this with all certainty! They also managed to hear banging sounds on the level above them on one of the cell blocks. I also shouldn't fail to mention that I spotted an orb in one of their video clips that they didn't even notice! The next episode took place in the old Borden family house, where Lizzy Borden axed her parents to death. Once again, they came out of there without so much as a single orb photo or video and zero EVP's! HOWEVER, there were more mysterious banging noises coming from one of the rooms once again. How convenient! I noticed one other hoax during this episode as well. At one point they showed a video clip of a bed and they were saying how it always looks like someone is laying in the bed, etc. Well, during one of the clips someone had taken a picture of the bed and when the flash goes off you can see where the producers of the show edited in a shadow figure, laying in the bed! Of course no attention was brought to this. I'm sure they're thinking viewers like me will notice it and create hype for the show, etc. I guess now I know why they have very little evidence whatsoever on their website, besides a couple of their classic hoaxes from other episodes.... Anyway, I will be watching their season finale tonight and I will almost assuredly be following up with a write-up about it. Yours In Strange Happenings, Aedryan |

replied on: 10/19/2005 4:41:42 PM It would be tempting to fake evidence to keep people wathcing during a dry spell, random banging noises without anything else does sound rather suspicious. What i guess youre saying is that they arent even really looking for evidence? |

replied on: 10/19/2005 10:03:16 PM I suppose people will do anything to be in the limelight. Its like genesta from GC, claiming her house is haunted but it isn't. Ghost Hunters or whoever they was even proved that! Anna |

replied on: 10/25/2005 9:29:49 AM I watched TAPS on sky, and i thought it was worse than " most haunted " . TAPS looks very staged and sorry to say they all look like morons who don't have the first clue about ghosts! I watched the very first episode, and thought.... It's the first show give it a chance, the second episode i switched over half way, as i thought i was gonna die either through boredom or laughing at the sheer fact not one of them had a clue what they were doing. |

replied on: 10/26/2005 6:14:18 PM I like that show because in all the other ghost shows they always get something on video and it just kinda seems fake where as on taps they try to find out what else these things could be instead of just flat out saying oh yeah that's a ghost that creek was a ghost walking around and blah blah blah... |

TAPS Fakes Evidence BIG TIME!!!!
replied on: 11/1/2005 2:19:31 PM The thing is, the only "supposed" evidence they have ever really collected seemed to be during the last 2 episodes of both seasons.... Hmm.... Maybe for the sake of getting ratings, so they can sell the Sci-Fi Channel 13 more episodes the next season perhaps? Also, notice how the "evidence" they get is TOTALLY unlike the real world paranormal evidence we other groups get? For instance; The hoaky chair rocking by itself, the full apparition that looked like a picture with the number 2 on the locker throwing off heat on their thermo-imaging recorder, the mysterious knockings and footsteps that anyone (even the producers) could be doing, the door slamming shut by itself (again, that anyone could be doing), the briefcase being moved from one point to another (again, which anyone could have done), etc, etc, etc. Then TAPS waaaay over-sells the whole "We're gonna try everything we can possibly do to disprove it" bit. My point is, they get all of this un-provable "evidence", yet when is the last time they captured an EVP, an orb on video, an ecto photo or ecto on video, etc? I can't say that i've ever seen them do such. It's always something outlandish that no other ghost hunter has ever captured. Also, let's keep in mind that this is TV land, folks and take it from someone in the entertainment business, NOTHING is EVER as it seems on television or even in the newspapers! The producers of TAPS are under obligation to keep their ratings up or guess what.... The show gets cut! How many episodes do you think orbs, EVP's and ecto (real world ghost evidence) would keep their ratings up? Not very many. Those of us who are "in the know" even get bored with it, let alone a skeptical audience. Anyway, I contend that the show is total BS, but hey, they must be giving their viewers what they wanna see.... Yours In The Real World Of Strange Happenings, Aedryan |

replied on: 11/2/2005 1:42:17 AM I agree with Meth on this one. Those of us who actually are around the paranormal on a regular basis can see and hear the fakeness in there show. It makes for a good tv show to those who are skeptical or just like to try to understand the paranormal but don't have the knowledge that we do. Their ratings are another issue. People who watch the show are going to be looking for more than orbs and ecto they want to see ghosts even if they are faked. Lets face it, they want the chilling fear and adreneline rush that comes with those kind of shows. It's just like when you go to a horror movie. You don't want to go there with the assumption that you are not going to see scarey things. It wouldn't be worth it. |

replied on: 11/28/2005 9:58:15 PM I liked the episode in the prison for one reason - they did get something that stood up, turned and ran away - a clear image - and they did a series of shots with a digital camera that ahd a huge reddish orb that actually moved through the frames of the pictures as they werev taken - in that episode, everyone agreed the place was haunted... Maybe the one I saw was a different prison - I don't know - I don't recall them doing any light tricks or anything in that one so I don't know... As a whole I agree with points on both sides - so for me - my opinion is still being reserved... I agree that only a couple hours, three at most, would not give much time to collect evidence in a large place like that - but the prison episode I saw had them there all weekend - like two full nights in a row... At least it has opened up the public mind for things that COULD happen. SO that is a good thing. |

replied on: 12/8/2005 4:39:39 PM I do not get the SciFi chanel so I have had someone record some episodes of Ghost Hunters (TAPS) for me. I do find them interesting in technique, but it also seems over dramatized to a point and too much focus on personal interaction and relationships like a soap opera. However, that sells to the production markets and is somewhere between a reality show and soap opera or mini series in a way. Jason is skeptical and does scrutinize potential evidence very well, but some of the others embrace too much as evidence. It would be like any of us, not evey investigation produces potentil evidence or data for any conclusive support of a haunting. Greg www.para-forum.com |
