shaybeck![]() Quote | Reply | | "SP" narcolepsy/insomnia??? posted on: 11/15/2005 2:19:58 AM I've been researching Sleep Paralysis for years but came across an article where the person said that he has Sleep paralysis that is linked to narcolepsy/insomnia??? How can you have both???? The article said that the only way to slow down the episodes of sleep paralysis is through medication, and that most people who have sp also have narcolepsy and insomnia. I have sp and don't have either one of these other ailments. Besides isn't narcolepsy when you can fall asleep at the drop of a hat and insomnia when you can't sleep??? How can you have both??? Thought the article was way off the mark. Replied to it and the guy kept saying something about reading a book by "Conesa" I think the man is off his rocker really. |

"SP" narcolepsy/insomnia???
replied on: 11/15/2005 7:27:43 AM Well im an insomniac myself, and i dont personally think its possible to have narcolepsy and insomnia, but the theory is that insomnia could be the general cause of narcolepsy. I think having insomnia is great sometimes, 4 hours sleep a night, at the very most even. Plenty of time in the day to do what i want. |

Hmm can't answer the post Sp insomnia/narcolepsy
replied on: 11/15/2005 9:02:46 AM Hey have no idea why I can't answer in the other post???? Kept asking for a subject when I pressed the post reply button. My Reply for the other topic is: Ok I can understand how insomnia can trigger narcolepsy. Lack of sleep and then you just get so tired that you drop. I don't have either condition and I still get "SP" I sleep from 10 p.m. until around 6-7 a.m. I get enough sleep except for when I have episodes of sleep paralysis. Adroit how can you go on 4 hours of sleep. I could never do it. |

replied on: 11/15/2005 4:41:18 PM Well according to science you need less sleep as you get older. So i hope science is wrong, but yeah it gets a little boring being the only one awake half the time... |

"SP" narcolepsy/insomnia
replied on: 11/16/2005 2:15:04 AM Adroit that is true. Older people don't need as much sleep but they are up at all different times of the night. It's like they take cat naps. My parents do that all the time. Ever heard of the phrase "You'll sleep like a baby" Well babies don't sleep very long. An infant will only sleep for about 1-1 1/2 hours between feedings. My mom used to work in a rest home and those people were up all night sometimes trying to walk the halls. LOL Then during the day they sleep in little cat naps at various hours. I don't ever want to get like that. They always seemed so miserable. Chaos let us know what you find out about in your class about sleep disorders. I've researched it for years and just want to know if you find anything new out. |

replied on: 11/16/2005 10:08:55 AM So by the sounds of it, if you have narcolepsy and you have medication to treat it, then the symptoms of the medication is insomnia? |
