I think this thread has been long overdue! I would love to see more of our forum members getting out there and becoming more active in the world of ghost hunting and I figured this would be a great way for us to help you do that. The more ghost hunters we have amongst us, the more we will all benefit and the more our forum will thrive! Reading books, browsing paranormal websites and watching the paranormal shows on television are a great starting point (depending on where you're getting your information) for paranormal enthusiasts. I think that's how most of us ghost hunters started out. But, it is amazing how much you learn from actually being out in the field doing this stuff and analyzing A LOT of evidence consistantly! What is even more amazing is how much actively ghost hunting changes your entire outlook and views about ghosts and the after life. I know my views have done a 360 degree turn around since I got into this stuff. I don't know about other ghost hunters out there, but I know my views about ghosts are ever changing really, because I learn more every time we do an investigation. Even when we come home empty handed there is still a lot to be learned from the investigation! The fact is, there really aren't all that many good, scientific minded ghost hunter groups out there who are doing very much to actually further the study of ghosts. Many of them don't even bother writing reports when they do "investigations", let alone compelling ones. They seem to be in a race to see who can get the most ghost photos (mostly dust orbs) on their websites. But anyway, my point is not only do we need more good ghost hunters here at the forums, but also in the field of paranormal investigation as a whole! Especially ones who think outside of the box and are willing to try new things. If anyone is interested in starting an SHGHRS affiliate group in their area, please be sure and let us know. We would be happy to take you under our wings and work with you! But, I will warn you, we ask a lot of our affiliate groups and it is A LOT of work, just as any proper ghost hunting should be. Otherwise, if you are interested in starting your own group, i'm sure the couple other ghost hunters we have at the forums will be happy to help ya out (myself included). Oh yeah! If anyone has any ghostly goods they would like to unload, feel free to post an ad! replied on: 12/31/2005 9:56:56 PM We very seldom even bother investigating private residences or commercial businesses for many reasons: 1) They're extremely boring! 2) Home/business owners seldom actually commit to allowing us to do an investigation when the time comes for numerous reasons. 3) Home owners tend to exxagerate about their ghostly activity and descrepancies are usually discovered during the initial interview. 4) They're A LOT of work. In addition to all of the usual time, work and expenses of doing investigations and reviewing evidence, all involved parties have to be interviewed with our standard questionnaire then we create a custom questionairre for a second interview, which is based on their answers from the first interview. Then you have to start from scratch to do background research on the structure, the property, all past and present occupants, etc. All of this for FREE! Anyway, we feel that our time, money and efforts are better spent investigating old, historic type locations that are rich in ghostly history. - Aedryan |

I get the usual people talking about what they've seen etc,. but no one willing to make the effort if you know what I mean? Gives me an idea to start my own...problem is that I work a lot. Could try to make some extra time though. |
