replied on: 1/10/2006 2:44:55 AM Ok Meth I'll write everything down... my biggest fear is that if we should decide to do this that it won't be the right time... I have no way of knowing when this will happen and so far I haven't found a pattern. Still trying to figure it all out, and don't want to waste peoples time if nothing should happen at the time of the investigation.... |

replied on: 1/10/2006 10:06:54 AM Yup, that's why I think the bulk of the study will be "pre-work", so we can try and find some sort of pattern. Unfortunately, I think if SP is indeed something paranormal, we will probably never find a pattern. But, if it is sleep/dream related, I think we may. Myself being someone that used to have a lot of nightmares, I know that certain things would cause me to have some of them. It seems like eating certain foods (spicy foods mostly) close to bedtime and/or being overly tired used to cause them sometimes. If SP is sleep/dream related, I don't know if things like this could trigger it or not. If so, I think patterns would be fairly simple to discover if you keep a careful, accurate log. The most popular "explainable" theory about SP revolves around a safety mechanism, in the form of a chemical release in the brain. This chemical release is supposed to allow us to distinguish dreams from reality. When someone has an SP episode, they "claim" it is because this chemical fails to release itself. I have read articles about SP that claim no such chemical has ever even been proven to exist. Personally, I lean a little more towards something paranormal with SP, because there are waaaay too many similarities in SP victim's stories. I mean, why are there always shadow figures or an "Old Hag" associated with SP? I just fail to see how a chemical not being released in people's brains can cause people all over the world, from all different walks of life to experience these same sinister "beings" being present during these episodes. Anyway, keeping a detailed log and trying to collect some of your own evidence on a daily basis, as I described in my last post are going to be the most important things you can do if you really wanna try and get to the bottom of this. I would really like to hear more about the little girl ghost you have spoken of, as well as any other possible paranormal activity you may have experienced in your home. If you have already posted stories on our forums about some of them, could you please give me some direct links to them? Yours In Strange Happenings, Aedryan |

replied on: 1/11/2006 3:42:36 AM Meth, I've looked through the different posts that I've made over a period of time and the only ones that I can find about the little girl are: 1.) One Hell of a night "sleep paralysis thread" 2.) The little girl "true ghost stories" 3.) The Stern farm " true ghost stories" Actually the little girl is also a random thing. I keep a log of when I see her, my daughters see her,"only two out of the three have seen her" She "meaning the little girl" moves fast, real fast...we are talking seconds here. It's not like we have ever had a conversation....I don't fear her anymore like I use to when I was younger. In the past I've yelled at her to go away, stop it, etc,. but it doesn't seem like she is even aware that she is here, if you know what I mean. Does the same thing all the time, "Out of my daughters room, down the hall, disappear" really quick. Sometimes it's out of the corner of my eye that I first notice her. By the time I get a good look she is gone. As far as the "ASP" I've been reading an article about it "really long article" that someone from "chatarea" sent me.... not sure who it is only that they go by "warrior" could be from the yahoo groups on ASP that I've been on??? I believe some of it, but some of it is way out there. The chemical they are talking about is called "melatonin" but the doctors/scientist are really not conclusive on anything... Also right now I'm hooked up to a 30day heart monitor so that the doctor can see what happens to my heart when I'm sleeping. "I have a healthy heart" did the stress test, the echo cardiogram etc,. so why when it's supposed to be in "systal" meaning sleep mode does it appear to me that it's beating faster when I have ASP? I have to send the monitor back before February 8th so after the doctor takes a look at it maybe I'll have the answers I want...Meaning the heart goes into a systal sleep mode at a certain time when the brain supposedly sends a signal/chemical to it that it's time for it to rest... I'll be documenting what time the ASP starts and if I can press the record button on the monitor while it's happening or just after it happens they will be able to tell me exactly if my heart was in systal mode. If it's in "dystal mode" that means that my brain etc,. is still awake also they will be able to tell me if I have any wierd things happening to my heart while these are happening... Like my sinus rythm etc,. Just thought I would give this a shot and see what I can find out about the body when ASP occurs.. As far as other activity?? Not sure what your looking for? |

replied on: 1/11/2006 8:00:26 AM Shay, That's awesome about the heart monitor! I had actually told one of our members I would like to be able to monitor your heart rate during an SP episode. I think the results from that are going to tell us a lot. I'm glad to hear your heart is healthy too. The thing that worries me is the long term effects/stress on the heart from having these episodes. It must be beating 100 MPH when this happens. It's too bad they can't monitor your brainwaves during an episode too. From what little i've read so far about the little girl, it sounds like she could be a residual haunting, but I need a few more details to be sure. I'll look through your other posts. I'm going to start a thread here in the Sleep Paralysis thread for people to post links to all of the SP articles they stumble upon and make it sticky. I think that would be great, because then we can compare all of the different studies and theories and discuss them. - Aedryan |

Like just recreate a word, or atleast what the letters looked like. That will help narrow down what language it is. Also has your husband made the sketch of the face yet? Anyways keep us posted. |

replied on: 1/12/2006 9:06:47 AM The letters were in cursive and I couldn't read them... They reminded me of Arabic kind of squiggly like that also I put an example on here of what the pattern of the words looked like..... Husband is still working on the sketch... the reason is that I'm giving him details and he is not getting the face exactly right... still trying though...I'll keep you posted... Meth I had a brain wave study went I went to through a sleep clinic at the hospital...nothing conclusive... some were erractic... I'm excited about the monitor also I just hope "can't believe I'm saying this" but I hope I do have an "ASP" while this thing is on...Also long term effects on the heart is another reason I'm doing this study. My heart is healthy now but so far from the recordings they are getting I am experiencing erratic heart rythm while in REM... I don't know if this is connected or not but I send a recording from the device every morning, afternoon, and evening at a certain time... It's all done by a landline phone... I just set the recording device down on the receiver and press the send button. it takes a while but I'm hoping it will be worth it... When you say my heart rate is up to 100 I can beat that... I took my pulse one time after an episode and it was 135!!! I was sweating and feeling like I had just run a 200 yard dash.....accelerated heart rate is good for your heart as far as exercise but.... not while your heart is supposed to be resting... Oh almost forgot... my husband is changing our service on our phones and upgrading so my cell is out of service right now and I may even get a new number ... If that happens I'll send you the new one...I'll e-mail you my landline phone on your mailbox here so that you'll be able to get in touch....Sorry but he is tired of our service and wants to change it..... |

replied on: 1/12/2006 7:28:14 PM I talked to my buddy in the FBI and he'll compare the the sketch with the pictures of missing children. He'll also check the log of closed cases but you husband needs to hurry. Right now he isn't busy but once an investigation starts he'll be busy so the sooner the better. |

replied on: 2/3/2006 7:01:09 AM The heart monitor was sent back guys and the findings are pretty interesting..... Only had two "ASP's" the whole time....They weren't even severe ones but the monitor says different.... First of all on January 15th approximately 11:30 p.m. I go to bed....Well I have an episode....not only does it cause "Major arrythmia along with irregular sinus rythm to the heart but also something called "Benign Premature Ventricular Contractions" Which is Abbreviated as B/PVC's. Ok what this means is that while I have these ASP's the bottom of my heart is contracting and squeezing causing my sinus rythm to go unstable as well as the top of my heart to beat really fast...causing a arrythmia. The Cardiologist said that at different times during the episode my heart rate would fluctuate between 72 bpm and then slope down to 52 bpm and then it would escalate to a whopping 150 bpm (bpm is beats per minute) which would eventually make me start to sweat and cause palpitations, rapid breathing, and contractions or squeezing to the ventricular part of my heart after the episode... He also said that long term effects of having "ASP" have caused a Mild Mitral valve leakage....I believe the name for it is "Mitral Valve Prolaps where the PVC is causing a improper closer. Nothing serious just have to watch out for it later on in life... Ok so now he wants me to start taking something called "Topral" (sp) and see if it might make a difference during the "ASP" What "topral does is keep the heart beating at a steady even pace all the time. The only thing is that if i start to feel really tired I'm supposed to take my pulse and if it's below 50 I don't take it the next day....It's only a 12 milligram dose so I figure why not....Can't hurt... So here is where I tell you that "Yes" the heart is definately affected by long term "ASP" and if it can be affected what about the brain??? Also the other person who went through the study at the same time as me had the same diagnosis...We are both female Age 40 with ASP episodes...... The doctor also said that when I don't have the episodes that my heart rate doesn't fluctuate and I don't have B/PVC's I still have heart palpitations but it's not linked to the ASP episodes. So what's everyones take on this????? Do you think long term ASP episodes can have a bad effect on peoples health? And if so why aren't the doc's studying this a little more than they are..???? Another question...why do I only have these problems when I have ASP??? Not any other time....??? When I'm up and moving through the day I don't have any heart arrythmia's no B/PVC's.... Just during ASP pretty freaky huh???? |

replied on: 2/4/2006 3:49:44 AM I was talking to my father about Mitral valve prolaps. He told me that it was nothing to really worry about unless it is constantly happening. He believes it to be when your heart rate is sporatic and high that causes the Mitral valve to misfire so to speak. He has seen it in cases when the patients he was flying go into cardiac arrest. |
