I've been telling him about the "ASP" and he wants to do a little study on my heart for a month....Starting probably on Monday or Tuesday he's going to hook me up to a "heart monitor" a portable on that I will carry for 1 month.. He wants to study what happens to my heart while I have an "ASP" this could be pretty interesting. The reason for the whole month is that there is no guarantee when I will have another episode and he wants to catch me if you will while one is going on. What I'm supposed to do is right afer waking from the "ASP" I'm supposed to press the button that is used for any palpitations, pain etc,. In a normal heart patient you press a button and record on a log or journal what you were doing when the event occured. He claims that someone will be watching to see when my heart goes into what's called "systole mode" meaning sleep mode, when the heart rate goes to a very low rate. Maybe he is one to something, maybe not. One thing is for sure. It will show if I go into "ASP" when I'm awake or asleep I'll let you know. |

Hooking me up!!!
replied on: 1/9/2006 2:56:36 AM Yeah I have very good insurance... Also what do you mean that I will find that it does it while awake and asleep????? While awake your heart is in dystole mode and while asleep it's in systole mode. Meaning that while asleep the heart rate is very slow giving the heart time to relax and while awake your heart rate is appoximately 72 beats per minute "while not exerciseing....When your heart goes into systole mode It will prove that you are asleep. I think it's a pretty cool experiment.... |

Hooking me up!!!
replied on: 1/11/2006 6:45:02 AM Ok had this monitor on for the 2nd day and it's already driving me crazy. It's not real large but had two leads that attach to the skin. One on the left side just below the heart and one in the middle of the chest around the sternum area. The size of the recording device is about the size of an "I-pod". It will be on until February 6th when I Fed-ex it back to them and they give me a print out of all sinus rythm, palpitations, arrhtyhmias etc,. I know I already have palpitations. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't... the difference is that some people can feel them and other people can't It will be interesting to see what I find out about how my heart reacts to "ASP" gearing up for this I underwent a "stress test", Yep ran for 10 minutes on a tread mill with radioactive material given intraveniously during the whole thing. Then they took pictures with a camera that can see right into your heart. A lot less risk than a "heart catherization..., Electrocardiogram "your basic EKG" to see if anything is different from my last one, and also a Echo cardiogram that I had just last Friday.... My heart is healthy ... From my echo they told me all the valves are working properly/ I do have what's called "mitral valve prolapse" (an improper closer to the mitral valve)and a "blocked bundle brand, in the bundle of HIS" Meaning that I have more electrical pulses to my heart which cause an irregular "EKG" in other words my T-Waves look different than the average persons only because I have more electrical pulse bouncing off the walls of the heart.... but both are from birth and not considered a heart condition. No heart disease....and the cardiologist told me that I have a very low, low chance of ever having a heart attack from any kind of blockage... Pretty good for a 40 year old I would say..... He also wants to do a study on another colleague who has a heart condition and also has "ASP" It will be cool to see the differences.... I'll let you know what happens.... |
