I'm feelign a strong urge to get this out of my system today so here we go.... I'll start with the first reason I hate drugs. I used to be on them, weed....yeah....others too. I quit 8 years ago when I had my oldest daughter. I got into them becuase my brother dealt them. He is currently sitting in prison and is not getting out alive. Why? all because he let drugs take control of his life...and ruin it. He has spent a total of 2 years(not in a row..but off an on) out of jail since he was 18....he is now 31. he would get busted, stay clean for a week or two, then go off and do something stupid and land his ass right back in. I looked up to my brother. He pretty much raised me, my parents were too self absorbed and would ignore me unless they were kicking the shit out of me. It hurt so much, to see some one fail where I succeded of ridding my life of drugs. Second. Dejarik and I had quite a few freinds we grew up with fall victem to the same shit. I would set my standards reasonable. I'd tell them not to show up at my house with drugs, and never show up high. They couldn't do that....one even died a few years ago. So I quit letting them come around. My kids do not need to be around people who are fucked up.......people do insane things when high. I'm not talking about Just illegal drugs either. Pill poppers too. Go to the doctors, say they have one mental illness or another, get atavan, lithium, oxy's......drug of choice for the doc who prescribed them. Those are FINE if taken correctly for an actual problem. But more than half of the people who get them, abuse it. They will take them recreationally, 2-10 pills just because they like the way it screws you up. Everyone sais "It won't kill me" or "It's not going to ruin my life" or "I only get high occasionally" well you know what? Id does ruin lives, and it can kill you. And Occasional users will eventually build up to constant users. I've done drugs, I know what the high does, and let me fucking tell you.....it is NOT worth ruining your life over, and it is NOT worth hurting those close to you. My running joke is, I've been there done that...Now I can bitch about it. I am so sick of losing freinds, family, people I care about all for the sake of a high. how long does the high last? a few hours? Maybe a day? Is one day worth losing a life(physical or mental) when given the choice? I don't think so. There are other ways to get that good feeling you sometimes get from a high, without the parinoia, without breaking the law.....without hurting yourself or people around you. You just have to get the fucking guts and willpower to find them. |
