replied on: 2/20/2006 3:56:25 AM A friend of mine who is a chiropractor said he can cure 90% of all migraines with neck exercises. He said most people who work in offices or are inactive have under-developed neck muscles, which can cause migraines and other problems due to strain. If I were you, I would look into that. Since you work in the medical field, ask around. |

replied on: 2/20/2006 4:52:23 AM What works for me is chamomile tea and meditation. My mother use to go to a chiropractor, he told her the same thing Fratka. she hasn't had a migrane in a while. |

replied on: 2/20/2006 6:00:43 AM It may look silly, but one thing that helps me manage them is those little self-adhesive ice packs you can slap on your forehead. They don't always get totally rid of it, but they definitely make the headache more manageable. Otherwise I tend to sleep most of mine off. Not even codeine kicks mine, though. |

replied on: 2/20/2006 6:11:37 AM Thanks guys.... I have been to a chiropractor in the past and I get some relief but "call me a chicken" I hate when they crack your neck...It grosses me out but I do get some relief there...Also tried the ice pack and had a little relief...Thanks again. |

I know with my early menopause I get them so bad that light and sound just bugs me to the point where I will vomit. ( More then you all wanted to know about me isn't it roflol) But hormone changes are common in both men and woman when we reach a certain age. oddly the only way I can get rid of them ( since the thoughts of taking meds when Im like that will make me gag) is to turn of all the lights, put on soft music get in my rocking chair and put a fan two feet from my face and chill out . I also notice that after the migraine runs its coarse I am so tired I just have to sleep.. strange but true facts.. |

replied on: 3/11/2006 4:21:23 AM Migraine sufferer for 23 years here. When one hits I take, 4 advil and 5 tylenol. All at once. My Dr actually condoned this for me, but it may be a good thing to get advice on if you plan to do it. ICE! lots of it, not always on the same spot. Sometimes you have to try a few spots to see what will work best for that headache. When I dont have to actually do stuff, a Gravol induced coma is useful. 2 gravol, and I sleep like a baby. Often, thats all it takes. Physiotherapy is great. Chiro isnt the same at all in my experience. I had a physiotherapist who made me go to the gym and do specific exercises, for specific muscle groups. This helped enormously. I have used all the really expensive meds in the past, Immitrex only made me sick as a dog, but for many its the magic bullet. Has your Dr suggested that one for you to try? It also comes in another form, a nasal spray. And finally, meditation. Medical science can only do so much, and a portion of any treatment will come from within. I still think of my cordless drill some days though. Migraines can be so bloody nasty and insidious. |

replied on: 3/15/2006 2:11:40 AM I'm really limited to what I can take Fey...so excedrine is out for me...I get migraines also but it's just lights out and keep the shutters closed while a jack hammer goes off in my head. Eventually they will go away... |
