| Vicki Vietnam Quote | Reply | | Is sensitivity inherited? posted on: 2/23/2006 11:42:03 AM I've been wondering about this for a long time, so here it goes. Ever since I was really young I've been able to here things that other people couldn't here, and I've felt things as well. Things like a hand on my shoulder or a pat on the head. It never really bothered me up until last year.. I started seeing things and became extremely paranoid. For about two weeks I didn't sleep right.. I stayed up for as long as possible and couldn't ever sit alone in the dark. I used to think I saw things peeking in through my window at night (I live on the second floor..) and my closet door would open and close repeatedly in the middle of the night. Now I don't see things quite as much, but I can still here as well as feel spirits. For the interesting part.. My mom used to go through the same things as a teenager. She is still somewhat sensitive, but not nearly as much as she was when she was younger. When we went to photograph a haunted area with some of her friends, we were the only ones to get 'strange' photos. So I was wondering, is sensitivity inherited? And are there times of stronger and weaker sensitivity? I'm very curious. |

Is sensitivity inherited?
replied on: 2/24/2006 3:49:15 AM I think that all humans have a certain type of sensitivity.. for example: We know when something just doesn't seem right or we get a certain feeling..but that's what I think it is..just a feeling.. I don't think it would classify as a "sensitive" I'm not saying that what you feel is not paranormal I'm just saying that I think that your senses get the best of you when something unexplained happens and then you tend to sway toward the paranormal instead of some other explanation... When I was younger I did the same thing but learned to control my feelings and senses when something unexplainable happens...The first rule is to stay as calm as possible and think logically...It worked for me.. |

replied on: 2/24/2006 11:25:04 AM I think shay hit it perfect, the only thing I can add is about the stronger and weaker points in life. I believe that the more you use your ability the stronger it gets but there is a side affect to it also. The side affect is that you build a resistance to the feelings and therefore notice fewer ghosts. You will subconsciously ignore the weaker ones and overlook them. Well that has been my experience anyway. |

replied on: 2/24/2006 8:56:33 PM to answer the question directly, i am leaning more and more towards these things being hereditary. The most common spectrum of such abilities anyway. However i think inherited abilities are greatly effected by outlook, practice, beliefs or encounters with the paranormal. And yes i think everyone has a certain amount at their disposal. I think there is something to what twisted darkness says too. |

I think it's more on the lines of how much knowledge you obtain and how you use it..for example ghost hunters go out looking for paranormal happenings...Their resistance should be pretty strong to be able to achieve what they do...If someone runs around screaming and being afraid they shouldn't be there in the first place... Also because of the knowledge you tend to stay calmer and learn what you can while anything is happening...If you sense something isn't right then don't panic try to learn from it... |

I don't think that having more knowledge or being stronger would keep us from subconsciously ignoring the weaker ones..besides how does a person know which one is weaker or stronger...You would have to encouter it first so how could you ignore it...That's what I was getting at... |
