I just signed a lease on a house that was built in 1913. The same family lived there until late last year when the owner of the house, in his 90s passed away in the house. They also had an autistic daughter that died in the house when she was 50 years old. The house is located near a river with a man made water fall that is used to generate electricity for a nearby factory. The likelihood of water running beneath the house is very good as well, as the house sits on a hill not far from the river. The person we are getting the house from had used it for meetings and would stay there from time but did not live there. She asked us today if we are afraid of ghosts, she has no idea that we even believe in them, but she informed us that there are two different spirits still residing in the house and that she believes it to be haunted. I for one hope that the spirits are stronger than what I felt the day we looked at it, my kids don’t share my enthusiasm, but are excited just the same.

Now let me ask a few questions:
1. What is the likelihood of orb activity in this house?
2. What is the best recording device for evp and can I use the computer to record them?
3. Will a webcam pick up the same as a traditional cam?
Any other suggestions are welcome but I want to make this a ghost friendly home.
We move in on April first. (Not sure if that is a good thing or not)

Answers to your questions (assuming that the house really is haunted):

1. If the atmospheric conditions are right, the possiblilities are good with the right equipment.
2. As for the best, I don't know. I use the Olympus 1800 and it has worked great for me. Yes, you can record them with your computer but the quality of the microphone will determine the quality of the recording. So don't be cheap when it comes to purchasing a good mike. Choose one that is capable of a high sample rate and wide frequency sensitivity (if you get one of these make sure to use the foam cover over the membrane otherwise the distortion will be unmanageable).
3. Although I have seen pictures of what people claim to be ghosts captured on webcam, I don't know how valid they are.... Again, it depends on the equipment and the software. A camera with a widespectrum CCD is what I would recommend or NIR (near infrared) capabilities.

Thank you frank, as I said before, I am not very scientific when it comes to this stuff. This will be the first time I really try to get hard evidence that everyone can see and hear.
I wasn’t sure about the EVP because analog tape is base on magnetic principals and digital is, well, just digital. Anyway, thanks again.

No problem! If you have questions don't hesitate to ask. There are a lot of people here that can give you an idea of where to go and what to get.

not too long ago.....we had a bit of a debate over this www.mysonpeter.com thing.... because the video of the ghost boy, looked about the same..to me anyways...as it does when my daughter ran by the webcam.

I wouldn't use a webcam for it....the shots are way to slow, and mostly distorted, at least...most of the ones I've seen are.
