parlance Quote | Reply | | Alarms and bells and no ghosts! Oh my! posted on: 3/17/2006 9:14:56 AM One day I was talking about ghosts with a coworker, and he swore the walk-in cooler was haunted. His reason for this assessment was because the plastic flaps hanging down over the entrance would suddenly raise up and swing outward. I had seen that happen when someone opened the swinging doors at the other end and also when people opened doors out in the storage area. It was just air pressure and currents, there was nothing supernatural about it. But he insisted that it was a ghost. So I went into the storage area and opened a door to the outside to show him he was wrong. Okay, so I didn't realize the bar at the top of the door was actually an alarm system. Next thing I know, the only thought in my head was, "Make it stop!" That alarm was loud and annoying and the whole store could hear it. Great, just great! Well, then the boss comes to investigate and we had to explain about the ghost thing and she turned the alarm off, thank goodness. I never opened THAT door again. And you know, after all that I forgot to ask the guy if the plastic strips flapped up. |
