voices in your head

Okay, here is an exercise for everyone. Think and listen to yourself thinking. If you ever notice, you don't actually hear a voice in your head. If you work on it and concentrate, then you can kind of hear your own voice, but really the words are just thoughts if you aren't trying to recreate your own voice in your mind.

Now when a spirit talks to you, you can hear it in your mind, but there is a distinct voice that doesn't belong to you. That is the difference.

Telepathy is a whole different animal, because it's like a phone call. You can feel something open up and you can sense distance and the voice is very strong. If it comes from a long way away, then there is a sense of the distance in the sound, just like with a long distance phone call. It just sounds far away, but loud and clear.

One of the reasons why you will hear spirits in your head instead of with your ears is because most of the time they are talking in the spirit world and the cognitive mind is where the gateway into that world is, not the ears or auditory centers of the brain.

Actual voice phenomenon in the physical world is rare, but it happens. Suddenly hearing someone call your name or telling you to do something. But it takes a lot of energy to make something like that happen.

I am really not sure what evp equipment is picking up on. It might be the first level of physical manifestation, which might be too weak for human ears to properly translate. But I would guess the subconscious mind picks up on it, so that would account for why people get feelings in haunted areas where evps are recorded. Even if you aren't psychic, the subconscious mind might be hearing stuff your conscious mind isn't picking up on.

Man we have an interesting brain!

Anyway...i've heard my name being called 2 or 3 times in my life. It's always a soft sounding voice that you can hardly hear but you can hear it perfectly if you know what i mean. All i've ever heard was "Patrick" which is my name and it has happened when i'm really focused on the computer and this comes out of nowhere and i never really think about it, but have asked my dad if he called me and it wasn't him. Also, turn the TV off and get focused on something and i can hear the TV on, i look and it's off so i'm thinking "hmmm must be my imagination" but i've had that happen several times. I don't mean like you can hear it perfectly like it's on..i mean just the sounds and it's between like medium and faint sound to my ears. Who knows...this can all be in my head afterall because we don't know the brain fully.

Hmm, I dunno. I actually DO hear my own thoughts sometimes. Usually when I'm NOT concentrating really hard, ironically enough. My mind will wander and suddenly my thought will take a voice form. Sometimes my own voice, sometimes someone else's if I'm thinking about another person saying something. Usually "hearing" the voice shocks me out of it, gets me focusing again, and it stops. But they are very clearly my own thoughts.

Although I'll grant, I have "heard" one voice totally unrelated before. I know for sure did NOT come from my own mind or thoughts. It was frightening, prophetic, and accurate.

I've heard voices that were not mine...The reason I know they were not mine is that it was a male voice and umm I'm a female so figure that one out.....Also heard a voice that is another language that I can' understand so don't know where that comes from either????

Nope not crazy, have no mental illness, just hear it ....what can I say

Also you can tell if it's your voice or not. If you have heard your vocie on an answering machine or team speak and it's not the voice you have there ya go!

I think at one point or another, everyone experiencesvoices that are not in their head but dont realize it. I have heard my name called or someone saying "hey!" as if it was in my ear on several occasions.

But really...how do we tell the difference between your mind playing tricks on you and a spirit calling you? i'm sure 90% of the time it's mind playing tricks on you and we just go "omg i heard a ghost...ahhhh" lol.
