As long as it gives the opportunity to pass across messages, it'll do. You and others place one finger each onto the device being used as a pointer (triangular pointer, glass, etc.) without applying too much pressure, nor trying to move the pointer at any time. You then ask questions out loud. If someone is there, then the pointer will move without anyone at the table being repsonsible for that movement, and it will go to letters in turn, to spell out a message. Some believe ouija boards are good conduits for bad spirits and should be used with care. Most psychics request divine protection before using one, while seated around the table ready.
