The Sasha/Mischa and Aidan/Adrian mindframes were confusing, so I stopped thinking of them as separate beings (as you intended) and that made my poor, logical brain feel better. It was rather shocking to see Mischa attacking Adrian so visciously, though I didn't expect him to just stand there and throw a tantrum. :p It all worked wonderfully--the raw emotion, the shock value, the violence...very powerful stuff. <3 |

replied on: 6/18/2005 1:56:38 AM I dunno... I can see Mischa/Sasha as the same person but I still feel a rift between Adrian/Aidan. Maybe it's just me, and the amount of time since I read his last chapter. (So I think I'ma go read it again tomorrow, like the obsessed little fangirl I am! ^_^) That was an absolutely beautiful chapter -- and YES, FINALLY they get it together!! *lets out breath she's been holding since ch. whatever when she first started reading DI* Okay, so I'm not sure. But it was definitely near the very beginning! I just have one thing to comment on, please don't hate me! But: I know it's different to hear it from someone you love in real life, and yes, even Mischa admitted it was cheesy, but... (seriously, please don't kill me!) if someone had said those lines to me... I wouldn't have believed him. I might not have killed him, but I wouldn't have believed him either. I mean, again, it might just be me. I know how long and hard you worked on this chapter and I don't want you to feel bad about it, but as a fellow writer I am obligated to give my honest opinion and -- well, that's it. But, ignoring that, yes, I WAS crying throughout the first half of this chapter, so all in all it was a job well done. And DAMN, who'da thought it would be so dangerous to piss off Mischa?! XD Love you, Xan-san. Your writing really inspires me to improve my own! ~Chippie |

replied on: 6/18/2005 9:45:14 AM *from reading the previous posts, has realised how much she hangs up on insignificance~<3* x_x;; But seriously, these are the parts I remembered best - The mere fact that the name "Callisto Galen" featured at all had me squeeing at the screen for a full minute. :P <-too obsessed, really. Then, I really, really loved it 'the morning after' when Adrian "was smirking lazily".. XD *was delighted to see Addy back~<3* And, and.. I've always adored the name Raiden (and the lightning element/power..), omg Xandra.. XD I swear you nearly KO'd me with that alone~<33 Senseiii~! And Val's grin when he embarrasses his student is just cute. >XD I guess instead of rambling like this, I should be saying something like... As much as I go "whoa" *brainbend* at your huge plot (hontou ni *_* <-a girl who can never write more than 5k words >.>;;) I love the little things that bring them all to life, too. ^.^ It's really awesome~<3 Great to see another fantastic chapter! It was worth the wait, and I'm so not just saying that. XD |

replied on: 6/18/2005 9:11:06 PM Hmm, what really interested me the most was the theory Nobunaga put forward. I agree with how the elements, directions, and deities are described. A lot of evidence can be found in anime (Yu Yu Hakesho, Fushigi Yuugi, etc). I'll brush this up a bit: Suzaku- South- Fire- Red Phoenix. Seiryuu- East- Water- Blue Dragon. Genbu- North- Earth- Black Tortoise. Byakko- West- Air- White Tiger. However, there are other variations. What had been described was something like a fusion of western magic (astrology, tarot, the patent FOUR elements) with the oriental divination (Chinese astrology, I-Ching, and FIVE elements). Here's another version of the myth Nobunaga described (changes are written in capitals)- Suzaku- South- Fire- Red Phoenix. Seiryuu- East- WOOD- GREEN Dragon. Genbu- North- WATER- Black Tortoise. Byakko- West- METAL- White Tiger. As you can see, earth was replaced by water in Genbu's department. The description of the south and fire has remained unchanged (and it is rather interesting to note that the placement is the same in Western Astrology, but I'll review that later on). Seiryuu is no longer the blue Dragon who rules the waters, but now is a Green Dragon that oversees nature, namely wood. Whilst Byakko did have a function over the winds, he was in this version, associated with the element of metal. Now, there is the lack of the fifth element in this the legend promised, but, the Chinese incorporate the fifth element (Earth) as a secondary element when all the other four elements (Fire, Water, Wood, and Metal) are present. Here's the description for the Chinese 'Earth' Element. Center- Whatever name the Emperor takes (I assume, but I could be wrong)- EARTH- Yellow Emperor. There's even another version which is just as different to the one I had decribed, as the said decription was as different to the one showcased in Dark Illustrations (again, changes are in BOLD): Suzaku- South- Fire- Red PEACOCK. Seiryuu- WEST- Water- Blue Dragon. Genbu- North- EARTH- BROWN Turtle. Byakko- EAST- WOOD- White Tiger. Though, Xandra you have done your research, I see- and the version you used fits in better with the story than the one I had described. However, lets look at the Western placement of Elements. North- Earth- Green. South- Fire- Red. East- Air- Yellow. West- Water- Blue. As you can see, Air and Water have switched directions in the Western placement. Air is no longer part of the west, but now resides in the East, while Water has be relocated to the western direction. To conclude, I've come to the conclusion that myths can be f*cked up. However, the only thing that remains constant is Suzaku's functions as a southern, bird god of fire. In the manga vol. 11 (I think -- translations on Theria.net) they show that Tsuzuki controls all for beasts. BTW, Xandra, I noticed a small error. You said Nobunaga-sensei went clockwise when explaining the diagram, then you said the next point was west. ^_^;;; I think that would be east, Authoress-sama. Unless he was holding it up to the light and looking through to the other side of the paper. "He indicated the north point first, and the image of the turtle. “The god of the North is Genbu....” Moving clockwise, he pointed to the cat. “The god of the West is Byakko."" And when I saw that, I had to double check to make sure I wasn't mistaken. =.=;; Never trust me with a map. I'm too easily influenced. ~Chippie |

replied on: 6/22/2005 7:22:06 AM I thought the mind frames were pretty easy to understand thought one question that i'd probably ask is about the adriam/aiden mindframe. chippie's right, it seems that aiden is still...dorment kinda, doesn't seem to be very active. either that or his mind isn't fully awakened...that's the feeling i got out of the story. as for neutral shades rant...damn girl...i started reading and got lost among your version of the....four spirit things...lol! Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the update(I mean like who wouldn't that last cliffhanger was just EVIL!) I don't even wanna start thinking about the amount of research Xandra did just for this story...it's mind boggling really. I finally stopped being lazy and signed up on the forum lol! Awesome stuff Xandra, keep it up! Oh...and behind you all the way when you decide to publish, I WANT A COPY! |

It was all mocked up to look that way, care of Sethan, but there is no difference. Each of them is the same person, just having lived twice and retained the memories of both. Two lives, same soul, you see? So there is nothing to wake up in Adrian, as he's realized that both Adrian and Aidan are one in the same. Get it? NS rants a lot. XD Something she does well.
